Summary
Quirkless, young adult Midoriya Izuku has a problem. Namely, he has a crush on his purple haired, tired-looking neighbor. They keep running into each other and the guy is actually pretty nice under that deadpan facade, has a sense of humor, doesn't seem to judge anyone for their quirk status, and is constantly spoiling any cat in the building that finds him. (He's also a shameless flirt.)
But Izuku has concerns. About the strange bruises and bloodied knuckles. About the weapons he's seen when stopping by for a cup of sugar. About the shady-looking figures he's accidentally spotted his neighbor meeting with. About the fact that right after the news reported a big crime bust, his neighbor came home beat all to hell and looking haunted.
Izuku has a problem. Namely, he has a crush on his neighbor, who he's pretty sure is secretly a villain. And he has no idea what to do with that.
(or: Adult!ShinZuku AU where Shinsou is an underground, undercover pro hero trying to find a lead on a case that may or may not involve the socially awkward guy living next door. Misunderstandings abound.)

Which brings him back to the point: there are set lines for everything.
Izuku can handle a lot of things. He doesn’t mind the teasing, and the name calling, and the occasional tripping, and the stolen property, or vandalization, or not having any frie-- getting off track. But suicide-baiting?
No.
That’s a line.
Work 2 - Word spread fast in Junior high, especially when everybody knew everybody.
A few more people tried to push his buttons after Ijime-Kun ended up switching schools after the ‘mysterious’ manilla folder was given to him. The Ijimes said it was a business opportunity abroad, but as mentioned before, everyone knew what really happened even if they didn't know how Deku managed to be the one to do so.
Nobody in his class tried to do anything, especially after watching even Bakugou shut the fuck about showing Izuku his place as the quirkless Deku he was as he used to do in primary.
As a few others in the school went ‘abroad for work’, it became very clear that Izuku took no prisoners, and that he was not to be messed with.
Of course this didn’t mean he had any friends. Nobody wanted to be his friend, but as Izuku scribbled in his notebook without any complaints or interruptions about something he can’t change, he decided that being respected enough to leave alone is much better than being seen as less than the dirt they walk on.

Work 3 - About halfway through the Physical Apprehension Test, the intercom goes off.
All they hear is about 4 and a half minutes of the Principal cackling. Shudders spread across the school.
Finally calm, he states, “As of 8 minutes ago, Midoriya Izuku of class 1-A falls under the guidelines stated by Section 9 Amendment 04872 Line 86278 in the School Rule Book. Any teachers unfamiliar with the rule may check their emails for how this may or may not affect them.” He immediately cuts off the intercom leaving mass confusion about what the announcement meant.
“Sensei, who's that? And what does that mean?”
Shouta drinks a juice pouch like a shot. “He’ll be here soon, I’m sure. And nothing good.”
Right before the last activity begins, the class gets distracted by Problem Child casually walking to stand next to him while drinking a Starbucks coffee. They just stare at him. He either does not notice or does not care.
“Hey, want some?” He offers it to Shouta. Shouta just sighs and takes a drink.

Work 4 - During a school-wide interrogation to find out who the traitor is, 1-D General Education Izuku is found to actually have a quirk and vital information to help the investigation.
Work 5 - In a sudden yell, all he hears is, “Who’s the strongest in the school?”
As everyone groans, because obviously, the answer is Nedzu, Shouta just pauses. Feeling vaguely unsure he looks at the camera and asks, “Am I allowed to answer that?”
Instead of the usual creepy nod or shake of the camera that the class has come to expect from an always watching Nedzu, the camera kind of turns a little in place. Like a shrug. How the fuck did he get a camera to shrug?
Everyone else just starts freaking out because Nedzu didn’t have the answer. Nedzu always has the answer. He’s Nedzu. There’s someone stronger than Nedzu?
Shouta just hums and pulls out his phone. Going through his contacts he tries to find whatever was recently edited because Problem Child keeps changing his contact name. Does he steal his phone? Does he hack it? At this point, Shouta doesn’t even care. It’s barely been a week.
He sees Best Son-in-Law In the World <3333 with about 8 emojis that Shouta doesn’t even begin to decipher and hits ‘call’. If he’s in class, Shouta doesn’t care.

Work 6 - “What are you doing?” The man cuts himself off whatever he was saying about how ‘being a hero is dangerous’ and how a ‘quirkless person could do other things like be a cop!’ or some other nonsense Izuku didn’t hear.
The green haired boy drops his bright yellow All Might Themed book bag on the concrete roof.
The thud seems to unsettle All Might. Or maybe something else does.
Izuku’s actions? His blank stare? His empty huff?
Who knows. Who cares?
Izuku looks up at his idol with squinted eyes and furrowed brows as he takes his jacket off, folds it, and places it on his lined up shoes. He looks at the shoes, the ledge, the man in front of him, and explains a little condescendingly because well, it seems pretty obvious-
“I’m going to jump off the ledge now.”

Civilian Analyst Midoriya Izuku and Underground Pro-Hero Shinsou Hitoshi have (somewhat) worked out their misunderstandings just in time to stumble upon another mystery (or three).
A major case has come to Izuku's attention that could save innocent lives and implicate important people, but taking this job may end up painting a target on his back.
Meanwhile, Hitoshi seems to be plagued with a sudden bout of bad luck that strikes at the worst moments.
Building trust and learning how to work together should make the problem(s) easier to resolve... or so they hope. Maybe they'll have time to throw in a date or two while they're at it.

aizawa shouta loves his son. truly, he does. he was the love of his life (tying in right next to his amazing wife who was a very, very, close second. his son, after all, will always be first in his life.)
and no matter how chaotic, or perhaps even a tad bit homicidal his son may be considering the scarily amount of times hes seen or simply known his son done something that has caused lasting harm to someone -- who rightfully deserved it of course. shouta cared for his teenaged son.
shouta would do anything for him, and, anything would also mean waking up at two thirty in the morning to go pick up izuku who was carried off to the police station.
or, in short, biological! dadzawa and morally grey izuku because yes.
