So maybe Zoey wasn't always the most perceptive person when it came to other people. She was smart though, and the clues had started to add up. They'd been adding up for years, and Zoey had been keeping notes. Sixty-two ideas had slowly been narrowed down into five final ideas.
The last option seemed absurd, but everything pointed in that direction. Rumi was a demon.
It's the night following the awkward signing with the Saja Boys, and Zoey know it's time for she and Rumi to have a talk. She'd come to the right conclusion, but that didn't make this any less difficult. Dealing with Rumi's secret was a lot, but they'd tackle it together.

And, as if his wife heard his prayer–or maybe because she didn’t–she wrecked him again with a simple, ignorant: “I hope the baby has your eyes. I love them so much.” The words came out of his wife’s lips like a song. As easy as breathing. Miyeong smiled, knowing. “Is that so strange an idea?”
Haejoon cleared his throat. “No,” he said, begrudgingly.
Miyeong’s eyes suddenly brightened. She brought his hand to the side of her belly, near her right hip. “She’s active tonight,” she said. And then, as if testing it for the first time. “Rumi. I was thinking her name would be Rumi.”
“Rumi-ya,” he called.
Rumi kicked again, pushing her mother’s skin against the palm of her father’s hand. Haejoon’s soul chanted in a prayer once more: That you should be loved. That you should be loved. That you should be loved.OR

She blinked, squinting in the light with eyes that shifted back and forth like they were searching for the answer. Her fingers brushed against the shimmering patterns along her bicep. She was so used to being careful about showing her arms, about keeping her patterns covered no matter what, that the thought to simply take off a layer to cool down hadn’t even registered to her.
‘I… didn’t even think about it.’

Rumi's still getting used to dressing for the weather rather than for her patterns - the need to cover up has just been drilled into her for so long. Inevitably, this backfires on her.
