Summary
Ace is beyond furious at a certain Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. He still couldn't believe he hadn't recognized the man as a part of the infamous crew. Scratch his original goal of defeating Whitebeard. His new goal? To make a roasted flaming turkey.
After his undercover mission in a marine base, Marco was upset at the thought that he'd most likely never see the cute freckled man he'd met on the island ever again. Especially not after the man had told him how much he hated pirates. That is, until he found out that the man was a pirate himself, and a powerful rookie to boot.
When they meet again, Marco tries to fix things. It goes embarrassingly well, emphasis on the embarrassing. The Whitebeard Pirates are so glad to have new teasing material for their normally straight-laced brother.

The New World. The most dangerous ocean in the world, and perhaps, a bit more so for us than it usually is for newcomers.
Sengoku knows the truth and wants Ace's head, while an emperor of the sea wants me for their rare animal collection. Between the two of us, we're constantly being hunted as we sail across the ocean by pirates, marines, and bounty hunters alike. Ace and I may be ready for the New World and the danger it brings, but our little crew may be another story.
We'll have to get stronger to protect them. A large part of me is still counting on us eventually joining Whitebeard's crew, taking refuge under the protection his name offers, and giving Ace a place I hope he can call home. I’m just hoping I haven’t done something to mess that up.
First things first though, we've got to hunt down Shanks and thank him for saving Luffy's life all those years ago.

“A pirate I asked for advice back in East Blue not too long after I set sail said being flashy was a good thing. If you’re going to do something, do it with style.”
Rayleigh let out a deep laugh. “Is that so? Well, as long as style doesn’t precede usefulness, I don’t see why not. Not my thing anymore, but it’s perfect for a youngster like yourself. Just choose when to draw attention to yourself wisely, and you’ll be fine.”
-“Guess this is one time we can’t use Captain to cheat,” Saber said with a sigh, making most of the crew chuckle.|| Using—resources—is—not—cheating—it—is—strategizing ||
“Nah, pretty sure your abilities are cheating,” Masked Deuce chimed in with a grin. “It’s kinda funny, really. Ace is our captain, and you, Captain, are our ace.”
Everyone laughed, and between snickers, Skull said, “Maybe you two should switch names.”
Ace and I shared a look. We weren’t going to switch names, and while the captain joke had been around longer than the crew, I’d never thought about the ace part before. Luckily, there were no hard feelings between us.
“One day,” Ace said softly to me while the rest of the crew cracked jokes about the confusion our names and roles caused, “I’ll be captain and ace. I was stronger than you once, and I’ll get there again.”
I nuzzled his hand. He could try, but I wasn’t going to make it easy for him.

Ace jerked away from looking out into the gloom. “Wait, we have rods in our eyes? But how?”“It’s probably not like whatever you’re thinking,” Masked Deuce said with a sigh. “If you really want to know, I’ll find a picture of an eyeball in one of my medical books and show you. We can see light because of things in our eyes called rods, and we can see colors because of things called cones.”

“They’ve got the consistency of a hard boiled egg when you bite into them,” Ace said thoughtfully, nodding in agreement with Mihar. That earned him deadpan stares from the entire crew.“Of course you’ve eaten eyeballs,” Masked Deuce said, seeming resigned. “And I suppose that means you have too?” he said more than asked, looking in my direction. I nodded. No wasting food. That’s what Garp and the bandits taught us, though, the bandits often cried when they got stuck with the less desirable parts in the fights over dinner. Tripe was no one’s favorite.
-Oh Mihar, how wrong you are. Zombies are real, and there were a whole bunch of them on an island-ship somewhere in the Florian Triangle. Granted, they weren’t naturally occurring, having been made by the doctor with the annoying laugh and Gecko Moria, but still. “Pretty sure the cannibals ate brains too,” Skull teased, ducking when Masked Deuce threw his pen at him. “I don’t eat human brains.” Ace made a face. “I don’t know,” Cornelia said with a mischievous smirk. “Eating human brains sounds like something Lord Satan would do.” “Don’t even start,” Ace said, pointing a finger at him, but it was too late.“Intentions?” Ace asked, fixing his hat on his head. “We just want to look around, eat some good food, and head for the New World. Know any good restaurants? I’d love to try out some local specialties, the kind with a home-cooked feel to them.” The soldier seemed a bit surprised by Ace’s easy candor, but collected himself quicklyThe soldier slowly pulled his gaze away from Ace, like he couldn’t believe that Ace had manners, or perhaps it was that Ace was a human willing to politely bow to a fishman?Notes: What kind of adventures does one have on Fishman Island when not involved with royalty and conspiracy plots? We shall see. “Another one?” Ace asked with a frown, quickly finishing off his bowl even as Masked Deuce made a ‘that’s what I just said’ face at him. “You know, for there only being seven of them in the whole world, we sure are running into a lot of them.” “That’s because they all spend most of their time in the Grand Line,” Masked Deuce said, keeping his voice low. “This is still getting a bit ridiculous though, but Jinbei at least makes sense. He’s from here. This is just bad luck on our part, maybe. He seemed like he was coming right over here until that guy called out to him.”-Jinbei seemed a bit taken aback. “A spar?” Behind us, Masked Deuce groaned and muttered something under his breath that sounded like not again. “Yeah, you know, a friendly fight? I’m always down for one, Captain too.” I nodded and wagged my tail slowly when Jinbei glanced my way. Sparring Jinbei sounded like fun. Notes: Many of you guessed it, but Ace just can't pass up the offer to ask for a good spar.
