    Tango cradled it like he saw Impulse had. It had a very strange weight to it. After all, it was very heavy for its size. And, if he stayed still enough, he could vaguely feel a small amount of movement.

    Almost like breathing.

    “You were the only person who could help,” Impulse whispered, his voice pathetically wet as he carefully pulled the blankets back.

    Tango tore his eyes away from Impulse, and onto the thing in the bundle.

    His heart dropped.

    Zedaph’s head snapped around so quickly, that he could’ve sworn he heard it pop.

    “Meet who?”

    Tango laughed. It was, on the surface, a happy sound; however, there was something underlying it, a- coldness.

    “This guy you’ve been sneaking out to meet! I mean, c’mon, three months and you haven’t even introduced us? What kind of boyfriend are you?”

    “I mean, it’s not really like that-”

    “Oh, I see… So is it like a friends with benefits thing then or-”

    “Tango!” He cried, mortified, now fully facing him on the bed. “No! It’s not that.”

    “Then what?" The man asked, "-What is it Zed? What is it that you’re so terrified of telling me?!”

    A collection of all the stories in Traveling Thieves, which is my Dark Fantasy, Hybrid Slavery, super angsty AU that spawned from my Whumptober 2023 prompt fills! Currently in semi-chronological order except for the first fic in the series, which will always be “I see the danger, it’s written there in your eyes” which if anyone does want to read the series in chronological order, I’d like them to start there! ^-^ I also occasionally place some stories in specific locations that I think work best for the reading order that aren't exactly where they'd be timeline-wise!

    The first thing he noticed was how different the room looked. It was cleaner, tidier than he remembered. The floor, once littered with discarded items and trash, was now clear, the rich hardwood gleaming faintly in the soft light filtering through the curtains. Tango’s eyes traced the newly visible floorboards, following the path Bdubs had carved out in his absence. Rubbish bags filled with crumpled paper, empty bottles, and even some plates with rotted food that Tango didn’t even recall leaving there, were neatly stacked by the door, ready to be taken out.

    Bdubs was still in the room, busying himself with the last of the cleaning. Tango watched as Bdubs methodically gathered the remnants of his neglected space, his movements quick and efficient but never rushed. There was a tenderness to his actions, a quiet care that spoke louder than words. Tango’s heart swelled at the sight, a warmth spreading through his chest that was both comforting and overwhelming. He hadn’t realised just how much the mess had been weighing on him, how much it had become a physical manifestation of the chaos in his mind.

    “I have,” Impulse’s smile was infectious, and Tango found himself a little bit lighter. “I haven’t been in a long time, though. A friend of mine used to take me bowling all the time, and there was a mini golfing place right next door. Sometimes we’d go to both one after the other.”

     

    “I hope I can bring back some old memories,” Tango managed a genuine smile.

     

    Impulse shook his head. “Don’t worry about that. We’ll be making new ones.”

    In a yellow bee themed tower, an Admin felt his soul fill with worry, dread and then rage seeing the limp permadead body of a member of their family.
    Tango is dead, It hits like a fact. Someone will pay, that is a certainty.

    He knew he was screwed from the beginning, forever Doomed by the narrative. Born as a disgusting bug that probably will end squashed as one too. His lies only delayed the inevitable and now it is the end.
    Tango was alone.
    Tango was tired.
    Everything was wrong, it was all Tango's fault and he really didn't know how to fix it.
    Tango was stuck in a metaphorical and very real hole.
