Pomni's raised palm jumped away from her wrist before reattaching. The slight motion made Kaufmo rear back; he expelled a ground-shaking roar that scrambled Pomni to her core, then he lunged forward.
Pomni screamed. Her body jerked on instinct to curl up in on itself. She squeezed her eyes shut and prepared for the inevitable.
Except it never came.
Pomni waited a moment. Her body tingled with static, like she had run her hand over a freshly-turned off CRT TV, but death and distortion did not otherwise overcome her. Carefully, one at a time, Pomni opened her eyes.
She was greeted by the quivering expanse of Kaufmo’s underside. His shadow and static drenched her, his legs on all sides of her, boxing her in. Each of his eyes still focused hard down on her, unblinking. For a second, Pomni couldn’t believe her luck. While she hadn’t been destroyed, she was now pinned under the creature. She kept herself tightly bound, afraid to move.
Then, as Pomni’s eyes turned downwards, she saw it. Her face flushed, eyes twirling in terror and awe.
Weakly, Pomni muttered, “…Oh, [SPROING].”
(The chase with abstracted Kaufmo goes slightly differently.)
