he opens his eyesockets again, staring in shock at the unknown number calling him, caller id clearly from the surface.
this should be impossible. is impossible. the barrier blocks anything from coming through, light, radiation, sound, anything! how is this even possible?
and so, like any self-respecting scientist (heh, who is he kidding), he presses the green button, half expecting it to be some clever prank.

Human magic before the Barrier was achieved through the Cooperative Connection, a bond wherein a monster gifts his or her memories, and thus a part of their soul, to a human. Discovered when Queen Toriel gifted a blind prince a blanket which she weaved in her memories of describing the starry sky far above her castle in the Monster Capital, the Cooperative Connection shines this trust both on the sleeves of human mages as well as in the relation between human and monster society. The trust of the Cooperative Connection exemplifies itself in the Monster Mages, humans whose magic makes them monsters in soul, tasked to protect monsterkind as the most powerful mages there are.
Follow Cter, a fresh student from that of Soulay’s Academy for Humanities and Magical Studies for the Betterment of Monsterkind and Humanity, as she finds her way through both the picturesque, and political, landscape of the world before the war between monsters and humans, learning both what it means to be human, and what it means to be monster. The difference between them, and what makes them similar. Humans and monsters have come closer to each other more and more ever since human magic was discovered.
