Summary
Heidi was a known girl within Hawkins High school. She's always been known to be assertive and bold, yet to kept to herself. Focused on herself and her own circle, just so she can get by and graduate out of this wretched town. The town that she could safely call home had become cursed.
Her circle did not involve classmates like Steve Harrington. The stuck-up, snobby, and prissy type. He never talked to her when he had the opportunity, calling her names, making fun of her clothes, as well as how she is. So, why in the hell was he talking to her at Tina's party?
Heidi decides to bite it and converse with him. It would get him to leave her alone faster. She just wants to get through her final Hell Year. But she finds that the more she talks to him, she sees this as motivation to try and do more before she graduates. To not fade away in the background behind her peers so easily.
But that plan gets disrupted when she sees Dustin Henderson approach her and Steve at the Wheelers, asking if Steve had... a bat with nails? She doesn't believe it. An inside joke that she's not in on. Her view of the once boring county has skewed into one of disorientation, confusion, and rebellion as she travels through it.

“I can’t, Nancy please, I’m so tired.” Mike pleads.
Nancy talks a step closer to Mike, he’s rocking from side to side as he attempts to get the tears from falling, “Mike, I need to know you’re okay, you need to come inside, I’ll set everything up and we can call Mom.” She begs.
Fear strikes Mike once again, flinching just like he did moments before and Nancy sees Mike break right in front of her eyes, letting his legs fall limp to the floor and wet, desperate sobs escape from his throat.
“No! No, we can’t, Nancy please, I can’t speak to her.” He begs, “I can’t speak to her.”

The ability to influence those emotions was also something nobody else had. Steve kept it to himself and didn’t let himself linger on it.
Nobody else would accidentally manage to control somebody else’s actions. He didn’t tell anyone and shoved that ability as far down as he could.

Summary
When Vecna is defeated, Eddie’s still warm body is rescued, and the crew begin to make their escape, the seals on that plane of existence begin to close. Everything that existed before Will entered is destroyed, but things brought afterward are shunted back into the handful of moments in 1983 surrounding Will's capture. Robin and Steve, facing their death, find themselves waking in their younger bodies. Running on adrenaline, barely grasping the reality of their situation, their first impulse changes everything.
Three kids disappear that night. Small-town gossip does what it likes. For some, guilt sets in when the kids are rescued, covered in fresh injuries and scars.

When he wakes, the morning sun is burning through the window onto their faces, and Mike’s cursing as he stands to close the curtains, stumbling all the way.
“Scoot over,” he grumbles, voice dry, and for a second Will can’t do anything other than sigh like a lovesick idiot. It’s a second too late for Mike, because he grumbles more words Will doesn’t catch under his breath and then physically pushes Will towards the wall to lay beside him, arm over Will’s middle. A second of silence passes, then Mike sighs, only to whine: “Fuck, my head hurts.”
Will can’t help it: he breaks down laughing, much to Mike’s offense.

Summary
To prevent Will from being a vessel for Vecna's spying through their shared link every time he gets a tingle in his neck, Mike has to be touching Will to ward Vecna's influence away. It could be a hand hold, a hug, or even a cuddling session. It's awkward for both Mike and Will, especially since Mike is still dating El and El is a big supporter of it if that's what it takes to keep Will safe. But being Will's temporary cure isn't the only problem of Mike's. He's hiding symptoms of being cursed.
