Summary
El stood and stared at the wreckage. She’d known it was bad, but this was way more than they’d expected. A whole lot more than she could manage, especially after just escaping Vecna. Defeated, she turned to look at her dad, taking in his tired face, with dull eyes carpeted by heavy bags and new scars he’d amassed since last summer. For the first time since they’d become a makeshift family, El noticed a sense of fatigue she’d never seen in him before, that felt deeper, and had settled into him easily, but crept up on her uncomfortably.

Angst and fluff of the extended party, a few at a time they all end up at Steve's place, but I don't think he has many objections :)
Each chapter will have a different pov character, and diving into some of their struggles, both internally and externally, so some of the chapters might end up being a bit of a character study.
As far as I can tell, none of the things I wanted to include fit together at any point in the shows canon, so I do what I like.

It’s like Hawkins, but not.
For one, it's always night, and the sky is forever shrouded with menacing, dark storm clouds. Slimy, black tendrils wrap around everything, every building, lamp post, tree, even the ground.

For one, it’s always twilight, just at the right time for it to be maddeningly impossible to tell what time it is. The sky is always painted with groups of orange and pink clouds against the strikingly blue sky, as the sun casts everything in a shroud of soft, golden light. Not a soul disturbs the peace, the entire place devoid of any fellow humans.
Any humans except Mike Wheeler and Will Byers, that is.

Eleven is too late. Hopper and Joyce are too late. Strangely, that doesn't seem to stop Mike and Will from finding each other again.

He swallowed and turned around, forcing one foot in front of the other as he began to move towards the cliff edge. Around him, sounds faded into the high pitched whistle of cold wind whipping through trees and past uneven rock faces. He could vaguely hear Dustin yelling in the background, something about not doing it and how he didn’t need baby teeth anyway, but his brain turned it into white static.
or the quarry scene in stranger things season one but I made Mike a lot more suicidal and gave him a lot more self hate.

Billy slowly turned around and obnoxiously rolled his eyes, “No, I’m not gonna fucking jump.”
He said it like it was the dumbest thing he’d ever heard, and Steve suddenly wished he hadn’t asked. He wished he’d just kept walking and minded his own business — let the question eat at him the rest of the night.
Steve was still standing frozen when Billy finally looked up at him, and they made eye contact.
Gently, Billy said, “Look, I’ll see you at school tomorrow, okay?”

Steve has never met someone so interestingly confusing. Between the scars on Billy’s arms, and the smile on his face, Steve is determined to put the pieces together. And when they both get dragged down into the cursed town’s annual monster-fighting bullshit, the puzzle slowly starts to make sense.

For the past week or so, Mike had been plagued with horrible headaches and nosebleeds. Vaguely remembering something Lucas had said about those being a bad sign if accompanied by visions, he’d done the only natural thing and hidden his ailment from the rest of the Party. It was a pretty easy feat, anyway, as everyone was largely absorbed with their own thoughts, dealing with their own problems. Either way, he hadn’t had any visions, not that he knew of at least, so he was fine… right?
One minute ago, he was sitting in his basement with Lucas, Dustin and Will, just like the old days. Now, Mike’s still in the basement, only he’s alone. The usually warm lighting flickers, suddenly more of a fluorescent color, like hospital lights, leaving the place rather desolate and cold. He shivers against it, crossing his arms to keep some semblance of warmth. The hairs on his neck and arms bristle.

Inspired by one of Yuri's poems and maybe one of Sayori's but I can't remember. Also inspired by The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe because I just loved the whole concept of it. ALSO inspired by the scene in Stranger Things where Mike Wheeler jumps off of the cliff into the quarry, prepared to give his life and save his friend.

Hawkins is crumbling, but Hopper still patrols. Mike is tagging along with him this time, when Vecna strikes, and Hopper has to try to keep Mike alive -- until Will and El arrive, and then love confessions abound.

or: Hopper and Mike are an underrated duo, Mike needs to be Vecna'd in season 5 (and I say this out of love), and I truly believe Will and El's voices together are the only thing that could pull Mike out of Vecna's grasp.
