    For Elrohir it was love at first sight. He had found his soulmate. Everything was perfect and they were so happy in love. Why then was he now suffering of a heart turned to ice? When his lover walks away with no word, no goodbye, Elrohir struggles with how he will go on. The world around him is becoming frozen and cold and some things just don't make sense. Can he come to terms with all that has happened before all is lost? Not everything is necessarily as it appears to be. A story of love found, love lost, betrayal and the question if a frozen heart can be melted.

      He remembered playing with the jewels inside as a child. He hadn’t realized then how paltry they were for a princess of the elves; how even the jewels worn to war by a host of Aman would outweigh them.

      But he knew the story behind each piece, and they had been given with love, nonetheless.

      There were rocks in there too, and those he did not remember; he looked up at Elros questioningly.

      They were interesting rocks; some brightly colored, some strangely shaped, some gleaming with hints of quartz or crystal. Elros seemed faintly embarrassed by them.

      “I used to give them to Maglor when I thought he was angry,” he admitted. “I knew they wanted the Silmaril most, but I suppose I hoped any rock might help. I realized eventually. I hadn’t thought he’d kept them, though. I never actually opened the box when he gave it back.”

      Elrond remembered that habit of Elros’s now. He’d thought at the time it was to cheer Maglor up; Elros had kept his own rock collection in Sirion that he’d treasured, and Elrond had more than once presented a pretty one to cheer him out a sulk back then.

      “I thought you should have them now,” Elros said. “Since you’ll see Emel again one day, and I won’t. You can give them back to her.”

      There was something very strange in Elros’s voice as he said this. Elrond did not quite dare question it. He focused instead on quietly sorting out the rocks he remembered Elros giving Maglor from the ones he didn't; those memories he thought he could risk asking for, and he should, before - Before.

      Elros shrugged. “Or you can see if Maglor will take them back if you can find him again. Your choice.”

      Elrond looked at the tiny necklace his mother had worn as she ran out of Doriath. “That would be an interesting choice to explain to her someday.”

      For a rare moment, Elros’s voice turned to steel. “That would be fair,” he said. “As she has a rather interesting choice to explain to you.”

      Elrond, meanwhile, looked Gil-galad directly in the eyes with a faint smile on his face. For the first time, Gil-galad was forced to consider the idea that he may not be dealing with two desperate Fëanorian hostages, but two beloved Fëanorian sons.

       

      Elrond and Elros adapt to life in Gil-galad's court. Gil-galad does his best to ease the peredhil into life at court, convinced he's dealing with two traumatized hostages, but their behaviour slowly begins to prove otherwise.

    Elrond has his own, strange quest to embark upon before leaving Middle-earth. He has not seen his foster father in thousands of years. Though Maglor is said to wander by the sea, no one has heard any news of him in an Age.

    Elrond does not seek to find or destroy any object, powerful or otherwise. What he wants is both more simple and more complex: to take his father with him, or wish him farewell. He does not know if Maglor can be found, but that will not stop him from making the attempt. The lonely shores call to him, and so does a song in the distance...

    Written for the Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang 2020, this work is a collaboration, based on this illustration by mallornblossom (now felixwhetsel).

    Though their appearances have all changed, there’s something they all have in common – they’re all shinobi, they’re all well acquainted with each other, and they all have pointed ears. Weird and strange things have always happened to Team Seven, and shinobi are all well enough versed in survival in strange and possibly hostile climates so they make do.

    Then the elves find them.

    Alternatively, in which Sakura can and will stab people in the ankles, Ino thinks this is rather hilarious and hides her worries with a smile, Naruto still thinks he can be Hokage, Sasuke wonders what in the fresh fuck is going on, Hinata is simply glad Naruto is still there with her, Shino ponders over the insect wildlife, Kiba is really happy Akamaru is there with him, Chouji wants food, and Shikamaru thinks the whole situation is bizarre and troublesome.
