Summary
For once in his life, he wished he was someone else. Someone who lived a peaceful, normal, easy life.
But he knew that wishes would do him no good and that fruitless imaginations would lead him nowhere, and so he sighed as he opened the door to his and Arthur’s chambers, expecting the king to be asleep.
So he was shocked when he found that he wasn’t asleep, but instead sitting at his desk with a dinner for two on the table, and candles lit all around it.

The man was breathtaking.
His hair was dark and messy, and his cheekbones were strong and his lips—were moving. Oh, his lips were moving...? Oh! Arthur snapped out of his daze with wide eyes at the realisation the man was talking. His flush only deepened when he also realised he hadn’t heard a word the customer had said.
“I’m—could you…repeat that?” Arthur found himself asking, a touch of uncertainty in his voice. Only slightly embarrassed. The customer cocked an eyebrow, so Arthur let out a small chuckle, tacking on to the end, “Sorry, been a long night.”

Arthur's taking on a few extra shifts to help pay for holiday gifts. It's pure luck when one of those shifts he meets Merlin, exhausted and looking for a kick of caffeine to help him through his own night shift.

I will however not post regularly, except for probably these last few months of 2022 because it's the 10th anniversary since s5 aired and I'll most likely be rewatching it and probably writing fics for it too. (And yes, that means I'm skipping the rest of s2, s3 and s4, but I'll get back to them later.) I haven't seen s5 since it aired, but I think a decade of waiting has been enough, so let's celebrate the anniversary :D
