The Stable Couriers are a relatively new arm of the Stable Association, only ten years young. Their job is to go from place to place, delivering mail, supplies, news, etc. to the people who want or need them. To you, this was the perfect way to get out into the world and away from the stifling boredom of one single place.
One evening, ninety-eight years post-Calamity, a charming Rito bard starts flirting with you. He's not so bad himself, and he just so happens to be going the same way, so you strike up the usual travel companion arrangement. Over the course of the next few years, however, secrets, lies, false realities, and true fictions accumulate and weigh down on you each time this bird flits in and out of your life. It's too much, and not enough.
And on top of that, something sinister is reawakening across the land.

"Father. We've discussed this several times, we do not feel there is reason to rush through the engagement. I appreciate the interest in us devoting more time to planning but—" When Link placed a hand over the back of his, he paused and looked to him.
Link held his free hand flat with fingers straightened and tapped his thumb to his sternum twice. 'It's fine.'
Sidon's hand rotated under Link's, his long fingers curling around and squeezing his hand endearingly. He knows they can't put it off forever.

In an age of great healing across Hyrule, they are content. King Sidon has taken quickly to his new responsibilities, and Link is balancing his regular duties as Zelda's knight and companion, aware his time in Central Hyrule is limited.
The wedding has come up before and they've tried redirecting the topic time and time again, expressing they are in no hurry. When the topic is broached once again, Link suspects an unspoken urgency — after all, a Hylian life lasts only a fraction of the average Zora.

Her power surged forth easily at the thought, and the skin began to stitch together under her hands. Link watched her actions closely, his eyes growing even wider, if that were possible, as he watched the magic at work. When the last evidence of the gash had faded, his gaze darted around, and he leaned his head closer to whisper:
“Are you a fairy?”

Her voice trailed off as she turned around to face Link. She had barely caught it, the smallest crack of his invisible armor, but she saw it nonetheless: a slight grimace as his torso twisted away from the door, his left hand—his offhand—trailing on the doorknob.
“Link?” Zelda stepped toward him cautiously. “Are you alright?”
Her silent knight remained true to his reputation. As he nodded stiffly in response, she could see a flash of pain flicker in his bright blue eyes. His bottom lip puckered ever so slightly, as if he trapped the inner flesh of it between his teeth.
“Link.” Zelda closed the distance between them, her jaw set and her breath quickening. “Show me.”

Summary
Link does not think he's suited for a quiet life. He dwells in explosions and fires, weapons and fights, ever since he joined King Rhoam's troops as a young boy after losing his parents. The rest of his garrison regard him as the land's best swordsman, a promising soldier worthy of becoming part of the prestigious Royal Guard. But a quiet life is nonetheless imposed on him after a series of dumb decisions and reckless impulses get him relocated to what must be the most boring, uneventful post in Hyrule.
Or it was, before the pirates arrived. Sea-born creatures like nothing the land had ever seen before; they're smart and cunning and their captain is what nightmares are made of, according to locals. Link is equally as terrified as he is fascinated by them, and try as he may, he can't seem to stay away.

With the idea of a sequel to BOTW, we start this story following both Link and Zelda continuing their journey throughout Hyrule. When they arrive back at the castle, there is a meeting concerning the 4 races uniting under Zelda as their matriarch, any other conditions of previous rulers open to discussion. There's also a much needed deliberation over the next guardians of the divine beasts and perhaps a new champion. Link, being put off by such a statement, becomes upset at his Queen for putting his needs ahead of the rebuild of their kingdom. Even moreso when there is talk of him and her having an arranged marriage. Their conversation is put on hold however as worrisome news from Zora's Domain arrives. (This story has an endgame of SidLink and it has their relationship pining happen fairly soon. Although, it is a hella slow burn. There are also heavy elements of self harm and sexual themes. If you can't handle themes of this caliber then please do leave.) Thank you! 😊

He very purposely ignored his ears growing hot and silently slipped off to let Sidon float on his back. The zora held out a hand– again, ignoring his blush– which Link took and hopped atop Sidon’s belly.
The prince grinned, sharp teeth shining in the sunlight. “Much better. This is very peaceful, wouldn’t you say?”
A breeze passed by them, a bird chirped overhead, a wide hand held onto his bare calf. ‘Yes,’ he signed. ‘Beautiful.’
