Frisk has done everything. They softened Sans, they made friends with the scary, intimidating Papyrus, and they managed not to die... much. But, in the end they weren't able to break the barrier. They should have been able to, but... it didn't work.
Years pass. Frisk looses their DETERMINATION and moves off to a house in the middle of the forest, somewhere inbetween the Ruins and Snowdin. With flowey. The monsters are back to their violent ways, only slightly nicer than before Frisk had arrived.
And then YOU fall down. Well, you don't fall exacly, and you didn't jump, but... well, that's a secret. Anyway, you fall down and meet monsters.
