“I was—it’s just…” From the corner of your eye, you see him bite his lip. “It’s hard for me to connect with people… and I saw you here, and I just—”
You face him fully now, brows furrowed. Ken looks like he has a lot to say, but he holds it back, sighing as he runs his fingers through his hair. Maybe you’re being a little too rough on him on your first meeting, but that’s because you didn’t expect to see Ken Sato here.
“It’s a little hard adjusting to being back in Japan again, but…” He looks at you with a soft smile, your heart rate picking up a little. “It’s just really good to see a familiar face again.”
The last time you talked to Ken Sato was 14 years ago, when the both of you were entering your teenage years. What do you do when you see his face plastered on every TV screen in Tokyo, and what do you do when he tries to reconnect despite being the one who pulled away first?

Ken Sato tried to get his act together. He started being more friendly with his teammates, more respectful towards Coach. But Coach expects a lot more out of a reformed Ken---he's a lot more suspicious when Sato shows up to practice late, looking bruised and beaten. One thing leads to another, and now Ken is expected to bring a non-existent girlfriend to a team dinner. He doesn't want to, but he contacts someone he thinks he can trust: Ami Wakita. But nothing is ever simple with an insatiable journalist. Events start spiraling out of control with a mixture of kaiju battles, hospitalizations, and lies.

Sato buried his face in his hands. Somehow this was worse than he imagined.

He tuned out the squabbling men across from them to Fucile, leaning in to hear him better. “What’s up, bro?”
“It’s nice to see you smile, a real one I mean, not that crap you put on for the media.” Fucile teased.
He laughed nervously. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, man. I laugh all the time.” He finished off his statement with a patented Ken Sato laugh and a sip of his drink. It didn’t taste as good anymore.
Fucile just hummed in response. He looked amused, leaning away from Kenji so he could see him better. He had a stupid, lazy smirk on his face as he dragged his eyes up and down Kenji’s frame.
Kenji felt distinctly like prey about to be eaten by a predator.
Not taking his eyes off of Kenji, Fucile grabbed his glass off of the table, downing the rest of it in one go. Still smirking, he finally turned away.
“Fine, keep your secrets then, Ken Sato.”

After the defeat of Gwi-Ma, Rumi, Zoey and Mira had taken a small detour to Japan, expecting a chance to rest and recover from all the past stress they, mostly Rumi, had gone through.
However, their hopes were quickly shattered when Rumi went viral on social media after catching a ball from Ken Sato, the self proclaimed “greatest living baseball player” whose reputation had been at an all time low since his terrible debut in the Yomiuri Giants.
Soon enough, they find themselves pressured by his PR team to spend as much time together as possible, at least until Ken’s reputation improves.
