Tony was no stranger to mental illness.
Alcoholism. Depression. PTSD. Panic Attacks. A colorful range of different phobias.
Those who didn't know him better *cough the former Rogues cough* would say narcissistic.
But that was just because they never could see through any of the masks he put up to protect himself. Never understood the burden of his intelligence. How his mind never turned off. How the hundreds of thousands of possibilities haunted his every thoughts. How not even the alcohol succeeded in slowing it down.
So he proudly labeled himself as a "Mad Scientist".
Tony owned his demons. Accepted them.
But unlike most people all his demons seem to come back to haunt him in one form or another. Though to be fair he attracts the mentally unhinged and unstable like flies to honey...
Being haunted by his past demons was nothing new...But he was fine.
Maximoff was just getting into all their heads again. Messing with them.
He was "mad" but he wasn't crazy. He wasn't!
......Right?

Steve thought that his life was back to normal. The Accords were scrapped, he was given a full pardon. He got the Avengers back with some new members. He has his home, and most importantly, he has Bucky. Now if only Tony would stop hiding.
But then, Thanos came in, and Steve's world came crashing.
Thanos defeats the Avengers, and now has 5 of the 6 stones. In a desperate effort to stop him, they travel to the planet that he is going.
What they didn't expect, is who they found in there. And how not only he rejects their help, but he really doesn't need them. how he truly doesn't need them.

FFH trailer 2 says that there’s a multiverse. That the snap tore a hole in our dimension. So, imagine a world where it was Clint instead of Natasha, where Rhodey’s prosthetics malfunctioned and caused him to die in the battle, where Tony had removed Peter’s Instant Kill cause he knew it made him uncomfortable, and he couldn't fight off the aliens and was killed. Basically, imagine a world where almost everyone Tony cares about is dead by the end of the battle. Now imagine Tony and Pepper had a little boy, named him Michael. Now imagine Pepper, badass supreme, doing anything it takes to try to save her family. With that in mind, read this story
