People said, now the Yiling Patriarch was redeemed of his crimes, Sect Leader didn’t know what to do with his life. Thirteen years, he spent each week, hunting demonic cultivators, interrogating them and torturing them. Now his greatest hobby was gone, he searched another occupations.

Summary
This fic is entirely about Yu Ziyuan's abusive parenting of Wei Wuxian, and also of Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli, and the damage done to all of their family ties by her choice to inflict the pain of her unhappy feelings on a child in her care.
This is not Yu Ziyuan friendly, although I hope there is nuance and ambiguity to her actions and motivations. It is not Jiang Fengmian friendly either. Nobody is having a good time in this fic.

The truth was - the truth was that Jiang Cheng had known that he and Wei Wuxian were irreconcilable. He had known it, intellectually, for a while now but hearing it from Wei Wuxian's own mouth was quite different to knowing it.
The disciples had no choice but to get ready for a trip to Gusu Lan, they really hoped that their visit was concluded without; (in no particular order) a temple collapsing, a dead Sect Leader resurrecting to take revenge and the death of a different Sect Leader by his sworn brother, like the last time Sect Leader Jiang had been in the same place as Wei Wuxian and Hanguang-Jun.

The familiarity of the voice gives him a strange tingle in the ear, almost like a tickle, which then turns into a full-body shudder when he looks up to see the face of the speaker.
In a split-second decision, he swiftly removes the red ribbon in his hair and stuffs it deep inside his shorts pocket. Forcing his wide-open mouth shut, he raises his hand and tries to sound as unsuspicious as possible when he answers, “Yeah that’s me!”
Oh god this can’t be good. Of all the physical therapists he could have been sent to, it just had to be Lan fucking Zhan.
