Shoko chuckles as she pours a handful of coffee beans into the canister. “Oh, boy.”
“Your birthday isn’t about you, Suguru! It’s a chance for people to show you how much they appreciate you! It’s a chance for them to show you how much they care, and you - you robbed me of that, you jerk!”
Turning to Shoko, he adds, “Can you believe this?”
“Not at all,” she deadpans, grinning. “Suguru, you asshole.”
Suguru hates them both so much.
Suguru Geto has always hated his birthdays. Meeting Satoru Gojo makes them infinitely better.

Summary
Suguru made his choice, left Satoru behind in petty revenge for Satoru surpassing him, and they would never be on equal footing ever again, would only ever be locked in this game of pressing on each other’s bruises and calling it pleasure. Satoru was strong, so he’d debase himself for Suguru, the show of submission his version of love. Suguru was weak, so he’d go along with it, greedy for the chance to hold power over Satoru. He couldn’t decide which was more pitiful.
Two years after Suguru's defection, Satoru shows up on his doorstep.

Suguru’s life turns on it’s axis when Satoru does the unthinkable: sleeps with another man.
Over the course of a week Suguru reflects on his tumultuous relationship with his ex, grappling with the decision Satoru made, questioning how to pick up the pieces of his life once again and wondering whether he can learn to forgive the only man he’s ever loved.
