MYTH was toppled. The human experiments were finally saved, liberated from the terrors of the heartless "scientists" who experimented on them. Children were adopted by heroes and civilians ready to take on the challenge, given a home where they could live out their childhood and be kids, instead of the tools, the things MYTH's scientists designed them to be.
Well, most of the kids, anyway.Or, the author loves this idea and decided "lets write vigilante tommy with a twist that I haven't seen yet!".

“I mean… yeah, let’s go with that in case this ends up on the news,” Siren shrugged, looking back at Tommy. “I kidnapped you, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Tommy agreed, knowing that if they said he was kidnapped, it would keep people from getting suspicious of why he was seen in public with Siren. “Anyway, can I get the chicken nuggets happy meal, with a coke?”
or, how Tommy—who is not a hero, or a villain, or even a vigilante—saves the life of one of L'Manberg's most feared supervillains, and accidentally ends up becoming the resident doctor for every supervillain in town (and maybe gets a family along the way too).

So Impulse tilts his head up, inspecting Tommy’s face with a terribly scrutinizing gaze. Impulse frowns even more as he rubs away the dry blood from under Tommy’s nose. Tommy’s brows furrow, as Impulse gently rubs over the bruises all over Tommy’s face.
Surprisingly enough, Impulse doesn’t hurt Tommy. Only staring at the bruises that litter Tommy’s face like paint on a canvas. Impulse doesn't say anything.
Tommy’s heart skips a beat as Impulse looks him straight in the eye, and all he can think is this is it. This is where I die.
But then Impulse speaks up, voice raspy and ridden with anger that would make Tommy flinch if he could even move. “Who did this?”
