"See, Ivan," he starts, running a hand through his already tousled hair. Ivan can't discern if it's the room that has grown warmer or if it's just his blood boiling him from inside out. "I haven't been able to rest more than a couple of hours per night in a week. I am...very exhausted. I was wondering if you, perhaps, could do something about it."
Ivan frowns, the cogs in his brain spinning impossibly fast and then coming to an abrupt halt, a jammed mechanism that goes out with a loud bang resonating through his ears.
"You...uh. Do you need me to fetch a sleeping medicine for you from the infirmary, moy sovereinij?"
“No, I wasn’t really asking for a medicine, Ivan. Quite the contrary, if I may say so.”
Now Ivan is acutely aware of how little insightful he is.
“What are you suggesting, moy sovereinij?”
Aleksander sighs, but there’s the subtlest hint of a smile on his lips.
“I’d like you to put your talents to a...frivolous use and help me sleep. I know it is a great waste of power, but I wouldn’t ask anyone else.
