Summary
Trying to manage the 'chemical defect' the sentiment according to Sherlock was could be tricky.
The life went on after surviving Eurus' 'game' but there were many matters still needed to be repaired. Especially relationship between Sherlock and John that remained fragile. And Sherlock just couldn't leave everything at its current state, especially considering how much he desired John, all the more after everything they'd gone through.

Nothing. V's shoulders are tense, but he doesn't turn around. Like Kerry's a fly.
"You wanna sulk! Fucking sulk then! Sit out there like a coward! Enjoy the cig, I hope you fucking choke on it!"
Nothing, again. V ashes his cigarette into the pool. The silence between them is too big. Too loud. And Kerry can't-he can't let it sit there.
"Hit me!"
It rips out of his chest like a reflex. Sharp enough to startle. Whiskey burn all the way down his throat.
The words hang, awful and echoing.

The first time V and Kerry fucked was very easily one of the craziest experiences of V’s life. It was life-changing and utterly insane and right up there with getting an old, dead terrorist put in his head on the list of buckwild things that have happened to him. Since then, he’s done everything he can to avoid the topic of sex with the silver-haired rockstar.
