The thought clattered in his mind as he reluctantly uncurled from his sleeping position. It didn’t suit someone of his station- a king shouldn’t be so feeble, so anxious, especially over a plan he himself hatched.
The Pale King shuddered.
His scales itched and he desperately wished to go back to sleep. If he could avoid this dreadful responsibility for even one more day, he would be a very happy higher being. He couldn’t, of course. Too much depended on his presence, he had to be there when the eggs hatched and he had to light the way for them.
If everything worked, only his light would guide those mindless, soulless vessels to move.________________

You looked at your opposition, cladded in black armor with eyes that shone like the moon; two massive blades on his person, one drawn while the other rested behind his back. The warrior's words held something far beyond power, but a promise.
The winds howled as both warriors stood on peaks, carved from battles that waged on from within the Abyss. The biological offshoots under the onyx plating that waved like trees vs artificial clothing that whipped and whirled from the force of their own weapon.
You gripped the War Arrangement Fan adhered to the back of your sash, seals glowing from the power of your hold. You didn’t see the point anymore, this needless violence. Everyone had passed already, either by a blade or by natural causes. You didn’t want to but…
You sent out a glare that could make an army freeze, the hatred you held for this entity far exceeded any other type of grudge. You spoke calmly, voice carrying like the wind, weaving through currents and landing with the force of a maelstrom.
“I will kill you.”
This fic is going to be re-constructed, planning on revising the protag, along with some plot points.

You are given the name "Echo" and begin the world's most convoluted game of hopscotch through the kingdom of Hallownest on the run from your father in the name of saving your siblings (and the rest of the world, you supposed) from the infection before things can get worse than they already are.
But when its your silly gang of ragtag allies up against the world, your outlook isn't looking too hot. And on top of it all, you still have your own personal mystery: Just where did you come from, and how do you go home?
