Summary
“Who's he?” In-ho asked, shooing away thoughts of how such silky locks might feel twined around fingers.
“Seong Gi-hun. Says he wasn’t involved with the rioting, that he was just here to buy a blind box and only stuck around when violence broke out to help others get out of the way before they got hurt.”
Those sad eyes tugged at In-ho like the prickle of a hunch. “You sure you got everything you needed with his statement?” He didn’t care if the answer would be yes, In-ho would talk to him with that flimsiest of pretexts as his excuse.
Or, In-ho and Gi-hun meet in the aftermath of a mob of shoppers trying to get the latest blind box doll. For Inhun Week Act 2, Day 2 prompts "Gift" and "Credit Card."

The Hwang brothers are among the investigators pursuing an assassin who’s made a name off the way he’s skillfully disposed of noted CEOs and other rich businessmen.
An assassin who’s been named for the horseshoe-stamped card he leaves at the scene of every crime, decrying those who profit from the exploited labor of others. Targeting those who see people as only horses to run into the ground.In-ho, though, isn’t all that interested in arresting the man.

His voice bounced off the walls, ragged with fury and heartbreak. In-ho couldn’t bring himself to look away. Gi-hun stood alone, Jun-hee’s baby cradled against his chest, swaying slightly as if the weight might drag him down.
The VIPs beside him stirred. He could hear the rustle of fur, the clink of ice in crystal glasses, the irritation of people unaccustomed to dealing with real human emotion.
“What’s he doing?” Eagle asked lazily. “He won, why is he so angry?”
“You’re asking why the maniac who came back willingly is angry?” Panther replied, already bored again.
But In-ho knew. He was daring In-ho to talk to him again. Because they both knew that he had just lost. When Player 333—one who had proven himself to be nothing but selfish and self-serving—had said, “Look after her,” then started the game, and thrown himself off the platform before Gi-hun could even blink, Gi-hun had proven that his faith in humanity wasn’t misplaced.

Of all the possible scenarios that had crossed Ga-yeong's mind over the years, when she had still been under the illusion that her father would visit her, she had never imagined that their reunion would happen while she was standing in her parents' kitchen in a seahorse-print bathrobe, peeling potatoes for dinner.
“Good morning.” Her appa smiles shyly. “It’s good to see you.”
For a moment she wants nothing more than to hug him as if the last seven years had never happened.
But it's not possible.
Because he is not really here. And he is not talking to her.
He's 6,000 miles away, giving a speech at the opening of some charity event, and she's in her apartment in Los Angeles, staring at the TV screen with her hands full of potatoes.

2.5 years after Gi-hun managed to save a few people with the help of the Frontman, things are getting better, or so you could say.
When Jun-ho ends up in the hospital again, needing a kidney transplant, he's visited by someone he thought he'd never see again, someone who still has one kidney to give.

"You know what happens to racehorses that suffer an injury?" Gi-hun asks in a quiet voice. "I googled it once, in a break between races I was betting on. Most of them get a one-way ticket to the slaughterhouse, but sometimes, if the owner was really attached to them, they end up on some nice green pastures where they spend the rest of their lives.
I used to think that was the best thing that could happen to a horse like that. Now, I think that sometimes letting them go would’ve been kinder. A horse with a broken leg will be in unimaginable pain for the rest of its life, even if it spends it in luxurious conditions."
Young-il's face twitches, but he doesn't interrupt him.
He takes a shuddering breath. "When we first spoke, all those years ago, you said that players were like horses. Is that why I was spared? Because… I was your favourite horse?"

After his team is spared in the six-legged pentathlon, the Officer offers Gi-hun a deal that can save the other players. All he has to do is kill player 001.

The car's display reads 2:32 a.m. but hyung still answers on the first ring.
Jun-ho is so surprised that he doesn't say anything for a moment.
"Yes, Jun-ho?" His voice is raspy and deeper than usual, as if he had just woken up.
He feels his cheeks flush with color. That was a terrible idea.
"Jun-ho? Is everything all right?" In-ho's voice takes on a worried tone.
"Ah, yes hyung. Well, not really. My car- my car won't start and I was wondering if maybe you could give me a ride?"
Silence.
He bites his lip, preparing for rejection. He shouldn't have done that. He should have called for a cab and not bother him.
On the other end of the phone he hears the rustling of clothes. "Where are you?"
Or
Jun-ho calls his brother when his car breaks down in the middle of the night. He doesn't expect him to come.
A bittersweet one-shot story set two years after In-ho's game.

The VIPs look at him expectantly.
“Go ahead, open your present, player 456!”
“We’re sure you won’t be disappointed!”
Watching them cautiously, Gi-hun walks over to the box.
It reaches about to his waist, and isn’t much wider.
Taking a deep breath he reaches out with one arm, holding the baby strapped to his chest with the other, and with his heart beating rapidly, lifts the lid.
With a scream of terror on his lips, he immediately jumps away from it, fighting back the vomit with all his might.
There is a human in that box.
They gave him a human.
A man, short hair falling on his bloodied face, is squeezed into a tight space, with his hands tied behind his back and naked, at least from the waist up. His arms are covered in traces of dried blood.
When their eyes meet, Gi-hun gasps in disbelief.
“Young-il."
Or
The button is pressed. Gi-hun is the first person to win the game twice. The VIPs decide to give him something, someone special, to celebrate that.Series
