Summary
This fanfic starts at the end of WCTH 10x11 and continues the story of Lucas Bouchard. Elizabeth Thornton has just ended her engagement with Lucas, a few weeks before their wedding. Heartbroken and alone, Lucas leaves for Capital City to run for Governor of Alberta to save Hope Valley and the surrounding towns from the current governor’s plans to steal their water supplies. And while he does his best to stay focused on the task at hand, Lucas finds himself dealing with problems and hardships that threaten to plunge him further into the isolation that has robbed him of his hope. However, when the beautiful Samantha Hamilton unexpectedly re-enters his life, knocking down his walls and flooding his darkness with light, he realizes that the greatest challenge he will face may not be governing the province, but, instead, opening his heart to love once again.
**This fic oscillates between G and T. It does contain some violence and heated kissing, but nothing too explicit. I don’t write smut. I’ll try to put warnings at the beginning of chapters that contain T elements.
