He could feel it squirm. He hated it. He hated it.

Kris manages to dispose of the Thorn Ring before going to Noelle's house, preventing what may have happened there from occurring.However, they did not anticipate it would be found by somebody else. Or used.
(Or: Weird route queentenna, but I gave them the thorn ring. And surely this will lead to only good and normal things.)
