After Ozai is arrested (and shot lolol) for badly burning Zuko, Iroh takes in and adopts Zuko and Azula. With Lu Ten's help, Iroh saves enough money to move the family to Ba Sing Se, away from the bad memories of Caldera City. Iroh opens up the Jasmine Dragon and the siblings work there after school. The pair go to Ba Sing Se High, Zuko as a senior and Azula as a sophomore. There, Zuko meets the Gaang and falls for the loveable and excitable Sokka. Azula on the other hand sets her sights on Ty Lee and Mai.
Zuko and Aang are autistic because I said so, and Sokka has adhd. Also, Toph is nonbinary and uses she/they pronouns. -

This will take place in the days of Season 3, when Zuko joins the Gaang at the Air Temple after burning Toph's feet on accident.

"Sokka," Katara spoke, "What are you doing with a baby?"
Toph and her had been gone for only two hours, and when the pair returned to the boys, Sokka had a baby in his arms. Where did he even get the baby?
"You're gonna love this," Sokka started, a nervous smile on his face, "and Aang would love to tell you - wouldn't you buddy?"
"No, don't use Aang to cover your ass," Katara replied sternly, "Where did you get that baby?"
"I don't feel anyone else here but us and the baby," Toph commented, "where are its parents?"
Aang gently took the baby from Sokka, "Uhh, his dad at least is in Caldera City?"
"What?!" Katara threw her arms up, "We aren't even in the Fire Nation right now! How did the baby get here?"
"Woah, wait a minute," Toph pointed her feet in Aang's direction, "Holy shit-"
"Toph! Don't cuss, you're still a kid." Katara scolded.
"Yeah and I've probably killed people so get over it, Sugar Queen." Toph responded, "We've got bigger issues than my fucking mouth." She pointed at Aang, "That isn't just any baby. That's Prince Zuko."

The Fire Nation had taken so many of La's children. They slaughtered Her children then trapped their souls under the dense Earth so they may never return to Her. La wasn't going to allow it to happen again.
