Summary
Pirates aren’t known for staying in one place for long — after all, the sea is a sailor’s home. Yet, many moons witness the return of Captain Caleb to a small port town called Linkon, at the old Destiny Tavern. It’s the woman behind the bar who keeps luring him in. Rumor has it: no treasure’s gleam compares to the shine of her smile.
“I’ve noticed something,” she says suddenly, stirring him from his stupor. “You haven’t brought your crew here since the first time months ago. They must not have enjoyed it as much as their captain.”
A slow smirk pulls one corner of his lips. His chin rests on his palm, propped up by his elbow on the countertop, knuckles curling inward near his knowing smile. A heavy feeling settles on his eyelids as he gazes at her under thick lashes.
“Oh, they enjoyed it,” he responds honestly. “I’m the greedy one. Normally, the crew shares treasure equitably. But just once, I want to keep this all to myself.”

---------------------After the events of Goodbye Despair, the survivors awaken on the real Jabberwock Island and are tasked with not only their recovery from the program's effects, but the toll of the havoc that their time as Remnants wreaked on their bodies. As time passes and their comatose friend's own awakenings looks ever clearer on the horizon, it only becomes more and more obvious how much the group has been avoiding amidst their recovery.
