Summary
This series depicts the Marschallin, Octavian, and other characters in the opera "Der Rosenkavalier". The various chapters take place before and after the events in the opera and include historical personages known to have been in Vienna or potentially in Vienna during estimated an lifetime of Marschallin. There are many theories, scholarly and laic, about the Marschallin's love life. I believe she had a vibrant romantic/sex life before the affair with Octavian and after. Many authors have opined that at the end of the opera, the Marschallin brings to a close her romantic life. I think this is laughable and I have positioned the Octavian affair in the midst of the Marschallin's decades-long romantic life.
