Summary
Mikey liked dresses. He liked girls in dresses, specifically. How perfectly it fits them and how frilly and lacey they get. He liked dresses, ever since he could remember. And Gerard took notice. When Mikey was around 8 and his brother was 10, Gerard would ask Mikey to pose while he drew him, and when he turned the canvas around it was Mikey in a dress. Mikey would get so upset, begging Gerard to destroy the picture and draw him with boy clothes. He was a boy! When would Gerard ever understand? And then a year later, Gerard started referring to Mikey as a girl full time and Mikey loathed it.

Summary
Mikey wished he hadn’t walked through the basement door, he wished he hadn’t seen Gerard feeding on a (mostly) live cat that Mikey was pretty sure was one of the strays he used to feed as a kid. If all of that shit hadn’t happened, Mikey wouldn’t be stuck in this mess right now.

Frank got a couple of good hits in before Ms. Valentino intervened and walked Mikey out of the class. Mikey was in a bit of a daze after that. He remembered how the pack of ice from the nurse made him wince in pain, and how he begged the office not to call his parents just in case they were home.. He couldn’t handle the embarrassment. He barely remembered the walk home. He remembered the sun beat down on him, like almost everything else in life. All except his brother, Gerard. Thinking about him made him smile and walk a little faster. Once home, he put his key in the door and unlocked it before shutting it behind him, putting his back against it as if someone were trying to come in and beat down the door. It’s not like Mikey could defend himself from an intruder if he tried. Mikey spent a couple of minutes there, leaking blood from his nose and the bruising on his face began to blossom in color. A familiar voice shook him out of his thoughts,“Holy shit what the fuck happened to you?”
