Nothing could replace inventing in the labs with Sensei, nor could it replicate Yusami teaching her the difference between frying and sauteing. But the kooks at T&I were just her brand of crazy, and innovating with them was fun, even if she didn’t trust most of them farther than she could through them.
She was good at her what she did, and when Ibiki approached her one day with a job opportunity, she found that she was even better in ANBU, and that she could trust them a whole lot more.
Anko still couldn’t buy a skewer of dango off the street. She still couldn’t stomach spicy food. But that was okay.
Because Puma could grow her honeysuckle to snack on when they were stuck on jinchuuriki duty.
Because Owl drew her a sealing matrix that goes off whenever it notices poison in her drink.
Because before every shared assignment, Scorpion hands her an antidote to every poison he’s carrying.
Because Hound lets her borrow his books whenever she wants to have a Wine & Icha Icha night.
Because Rhino can slip her an unopened ration packet and she can eat it without a care.
Because Yusami can swing by at the end of her shift to drop off a fresh batch of cupcakes.
(So, yeah. Weasel can take his half-finished incident report and fuck right off. Anko doesn’t need to cut open a sweet just to prove her best friend would never poison her.)

Tsukiyo’s eyes lingered on the letter long after the words had settled in her mind, her gaze tracing each curve and mark as if memorizing the shape of her mother’s handwriting could bring her closer. Her brows were drawn, not with confusion, but with something deeper—an ache she didn’t quite have the words for. The letter pulsed with the same tender warmth as the first, like the soft glow of a light left on just for her.
Her fingers tightened slightly around the paper. She blinked slowly, and when she did, her vision shimmered—not from tears, not yet—but from the weight pressing gently on her chest. The words stirred something old and familiar. The sound of her mother’s voice reading bedtime stories. The feel of warm arms wrapped around her on cold nights. The way her mother would smile, even when her eyes looked so tired.
She leaned quietly against Eraserhead’s side, the fabric of his sleeve rough against her cheek, grounding. “I miss Mama…” she whispered, her voice small, barely brushing the air. “I want her to get better already.”
The admission felt too big for such a tiny voice.
There was a pause, and then a soft, thoughtful hum from Eraserhead. He didn’t speak—he never rushed her emotions—but his arm moved, slow and careful, wrapping gently around her shoulders. His hand came to rest atop her head, steady and warm.

“Love of my life?” Victor asked as he rolled over in bed.
“Yes Dear?” His wife responded by putting the book down she had been reading.
“Why does our daughter love the ugliest, most useless pokemon in the whole world? It took us how long to get her to stop trying to fish up Magikarp?”
“Years my beloved… Years. And I don’t know. Feebas don’t even evolve so I have no idea what our daughter is on about.”
Victor looked over to his wife long after their daughter had gone to bed. Her blonde hair up in a bun, and sundress did nothing to hide her beauty from him. Her blue eyes shared by their daughter looked worn out.
“I never know whether to say we were blessed by her, or cursed.”
“Don’t say that!” He laughed unable to resist teasing her as he pulled her close. “It could be worse. She could be a Ponyta girl.”
“Oh don’t you start! Ponyta are amazing Pokemon! I always wanted one.”
“Yes dear.”
“At least the Feebas won’t turn into a twenty foot serpent in our pond someday.”
“Thank Arceus for that.”

Summary
He can see ghosts, which means he still has family. Still has Shisui, and all the aunts and uncles and cousins and distant relatives he didn’t even know before. Still has mother, her kind smile and her knowledge. Still has father, as well, although Fugaku stays distant most days, wallowing in regrets and things that make the air around him terribly cold.
Sasuke is glad, selfishly, for that small mercy.
He could have lived without the ghost drama, though....
Or: the one where Sasuke can see ghosts, and things aren't as bad as they could be.

Bookmarker's Notes
Seeing the dead isn’t as much a burden as people would think.
Not that Sasuke knows what people would think of seeing ghosts, but that’s neither here nor there.
The thing is, he wasn’t born like that. He remembers, with perfect clarity, waking up and seeing ghosts for the first time. He also remembers the many breakdowns he had after that, because incidentally it happened the day after the massacre. As far as he and the clan can guess, when Itachi put him in Tsukyomi, it made something in Sasuke’s head come loose.
Or perhaps in his soul.
Sometimes, on bad days, Sasuke thinks morbidly that he was supposed to die on that day, and that some part of him will never forget that. He has one foot in the grave, and so he can see the dead.
It’s a curse, for all the distractions that the dead offer, for the sleepless nights, for the many whispers, the headaches and the secrets that they spill like ink on a blank paper.
It’s a blessing, too, because Sasuke would have gone mad if he had been alone in the compound, with no family, and a lie told by his brother eating at his brain.
He can see ghosts, which means he still has family. Still has Shisui, and all the aunts and uncles and cousins and distant relatives he didn’t even know before. Summary
Isabel is your average teenager with deep-rooted anxiety, a bad habit of overthinking every single social interaction and, most importantly, still looking for a place to belong. So, when she somehow ends up in the world of her favorite show, what comes next seems quite obvious: she's going to join Fairy Tail, finally settle down in a place to call home, and ultimately establish the bonds she's always yearned for.
Or at least, that's the goal - she somehow doubts it'll be as easy as it sounds.
“Then I guess we’re not so different after all.”
“What?”
“You want a legacy of might, while I want a legacy of love.” A wry smile graced her lips. “In the end, we both just want people to remember us once we’re gone.”
OR
Angsty teenager with a bad overthinking habit and mild social anxiety seeks out the one Guild reputed for its warmth and family-like bonds - and yeah, it goes about as well as you can expect.

“You’re under eighteen, right?”
“Oh, yes—I’m fifteen.”
“Since you’re underage, the Guild will be covering part of your rent for the first year,” he explained. “If you choose to stay at Fairy Hills, we’ll cover 50%. If you decide to live elsewhere in Magnolia, we’ll cover 25%.”
Isabel blinked in surprise. “Really?”
Makarov nodded with a smile. “It’s a policy we have for young recruits. We don’t expect you to jump straight into adulthood with no safety net. Once you turn eighteen, though, you’ll have to cover your living expenses in full.”
She appreciated that. Having just arrived in this world, the idea of apartment hunting was a bit daunting. Plus, Fairy Hills was specifically meant for female mages of the guild, which meant she’d be living close to people she could trust.
“I’ll go with Fairy Hills,” she decided.
Makarov gave an approving nod. “Good choice. Speak to the caretaker, Hilda, and she’ll get you all set up.” He then leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand. “Now that the boring talk is over with, though… tell me a little about yourself, Isabel.”
Isabel tensed a little, even though she had been expecting this. Makarov’s expression was kind, patient, but she could see the curiosity in his eyes.
She took a slow breath. “There’s not much to tell. I just… lost my home recently, so I’d rather not talk about it.”
Makarov studied her for a moment before nodding. “Fair enough. I’m sorry for your loss. What about your magic? Which type do you use?”
That was easier to answer. Isabel perked up slightly, rolling her shoulders. “It’s… Nature Magic, I think? Or something close to it, at the very least. I only discovered it a few weeks ago, so I’m not very experienced yet, but I love it. I feel like I’m learning something new about it every day. I’ve been training hard on my way here!”
Makarov’s brows lifted. “Only a few weeks ago?”
She nodded. “Yeah. It just… sort of happened. At first, I thought I was imagining things, but then I started experimenting, and it turned out to be real.”
“Hm,” Makarov hummed in thought. “It is rare for someone to awaken magic so suddenly at your age, but not impossible. You must have quite the untapped potential.”
Isabel wasn’t sure about that, but she was eager to grow stronger.
Makarov smiled. “And lastly… why Fairy Tail?”
Isabel hesitated but ultimately figured a partial truth would be best.
“Well,” she started, choosing her words carefully, “discovering my magic made me realize that I wanted to do something with it. I figured a guild would be the best place for that, so I started looking into those. But I’ve also realized that I’m looking for a new home, and… I don’t know why, but Fairy Tail… it felt like the right place.”
Makarov’s expression softened, his small stature exuding warmth. “Well, then. Allow me to be the first to say this: welcome home, child.”
Warmth settled in Isabel’s chest. She still had a long way to go—so much to learn, so much to prove—but now, more than ever, she felt like she’d taken a solid step in the right direction. Even if her arrival wasn’t exactly as she pictured it, things could only get better from here, right?
