Lucy takes a step back, then pauses. “Do you ever leave before dark?”
His eyes lift to hers, sharp and unreadable. “Usually not.”
“Why not?”
He shrugs. “Fewer interruptions.”
“Right.” She gives a small laugh. “You know, I’m starting to think my joke during the interview wasn’t such a joke. Maybe you are a vampire.”
Tim doesn’t laugh.
For a second, she thinks he didn’t hear. But he had; his eyes flicker, quick, like a warning light.
“I mean,” she adds hastily, “you never eat, you never go outside, you don’t like sunlight—it’s kinda a pattern.”
He holds her gaze for a moment longer, then says simply, “Good night, Lucy.”
She feels heat climb up her neck. “Good night.”

“Any last words Sergeant Bradford?” Mako sneered, the muzzle pushed further into Tim’s forehead. He would give them nothing, he wouldn’t beg for his life, he would not give Mako that satisfaction. Taking a deep breath, Tim opened his eyes and stared directly at Mako. He would not show him how terrified he was. He would look his killer in the eyes
“Wait.”
Another voice, a female voice echoed into the warehouse. Tim couldn’t see where it was coming from nor could he pinpoint the footsteps that were coming towards him but the next thing Tim knew was he was being lifted from the ground, smaller – softer – hands around his biceps. “I’ll take him.”
It was her voice again, it sounded different, quiet but still strong. “Thought you didn’t partake in our games Nova…” Mako spoke again, a snide smirk seeping into his words. But the voice, Nova laughed, “I never said I didn’t – you’ve just haven’t brought me anyone who has piqued my interest.”

The very first thing she notices when she looks at him is that she cannot remember what he looked like when he revived her after pulling her out of the barrel. In theory, she knows he was in uniform, and he was distraught. But she cannot recall the look on his face, a mixture of relief and something else he could never quite articulate, or the way it made her feel – saved. That memory, that comfort, that feeling of safety is suddenly gone. That man is gone.
OR Lucy struggles with her emotions after the break-up, and has to learn to trust Tim again. Set after the break-up, during late s6 and s7. Chenford angst with happy ending.

Tim never wanted to be detective. A lot of lonely paper shuffling and pissing contests and business professional attire. No thanks. He was always more of a uniform guy. Singular part of an outfit. Little league, football, army, LAPD. So he had a lot of experience in groups, and leading groups, and analyzing groups, and he could tell when there was disarray. He could tell when there was a problem, and who the problem was.
The problem is, is that the problem is him.
But he's in a rundown shed in the middle of Who Fucking Knows, Nevada, staring at five men and women around a table who are armed to the teeth, and they all know he's the odd man out. They know he doesn't belong.
What Tim knows, is that Lucy is in the basement of this shed.
And he's either leaving here with her, or he's not leaving here at all.

We all know it, and I think we love it too, so this story will be no different. At least in that.
Tim is a grumpy. Lucy a sunshine.
But this time, they're not both police officers. He is; she wanted to be, but her life changed while she was at the Academy.
Tim's life is pretty monotonous. Working, walking his dog, working out and sitting at home watching baseball, football, or basketball on TV (sometimes from the stadium seat). Occasionally, he attends a celebration for his "BFF" (although he does not accept that Angela calls him that) and the mother of his godson. But not much more than that.Lucy's life is crazy. Starting her own business (when she knew she wouldn't be able to be a police officer and decided not to pursue a career in the field of psychology she had studied) amidst all the chaos of being a single mother, had been a very risky move. But she didn't regret it.
Luckily for us, their paths are about to cross. And what else could we get from this than SALTED CARAMEL? Let's see...
