2am. The Doctor can't sleep. They had dreamed of snow.
They grunt, ripping themselves from their desk. Bones click as their gaunt frame rebels against the motion, but they ignore it as they force themselves straight.
And it burns. A slight compulsion in the back of their mind. Grumbling a curse, they rip open a hidden drawer underneath their desk, a cardboard pack of... The brand didn't matter. The nicotine did.
They pluck a lighter from their desk, as pristine and polished as the day an admin operator gave it to them on someone else's behalf. Stuffing both into their pocket, the doctor walked out and headed for the roof of the landship. Surely, there was nobody else there.
