It's been a little over two months since the Barrier was destroyed, monsterkind was freed from the underground, and able to begin pursuing better lives on the surface.
Papyrus is doing great, of course. He's busting tables at a diner to keep the roof over his and Sans' heads, thoroughly enjoying the freedoms and experiences of the surface world whenever he has the time. Life feels so much richer and there are so many more opportunities up here in the sunlight than there ever could've been in the dreary darkness of the underground. Everyone he knows seems to be thriving and happy.

Quietness stretched between them for a long moment, and Gaster wasn’t sure if the majority of the nervousness he was feeling was his or what was radiating off of Sans. He cleared his throat. “Um… Have you… ever done this before?”
Sans shook his head. “Nuh-uh. You?”
“No.” Gaster muttered in response. “I’ve never even been in a relationship with anyone other than you.”
“Same here.”
Gaster rubbed at the back of his skull. “Maybe it’s like it is in romance novels?”
“I’ve seen a couple porno magazines.” Sans shrugged unsurely.

Summary
Losing Arial and Berlin had hurt more than words would ever be able to describe. When Pristina and Oswald had found their youngest and only surviving son shaking as he sat hunched over their piles of dust, it felt like the world had ended, like nothing would ever be right again and there was no way they could ever be anything other than devastated.
Gaster was absolutely destroyed by his grief and terror, though, and it added more weight to her and Oswald’s pain, watching him break over and over again. Pristina didn’t know how much more of it her soul could take.

Summary
Arthur Morgan is fourteen years old when his father is killed in front of him in their small cabin in Maryland. With no one to turn to, he ventures into the wilderness by himself with only a few belongings, the clothes on his back, and very limited knowledge of how to survive. Then, when all seems lost, he's taken in by a pair of charitable bandits with silver tongues, sharp wits, and big dreams of taking down civilized society to bring America back to a purer state. Along the way, they find more wayward souls, building up a strong group that's the closest thing to family most of them will ever have.
A fairly canon-compliant interpretation of The Van der Linde Gang, mostly from Arthur's point of view, 1878-1899.
WARNING. There's some ugly topics in this fic every now and then. Mostly violence, a few mentions of some darker stuff, but probably never anything too overly graphic; though, there'll be trigger warnings before the start of the chapter. Even still, viewer discretion is advised.

It started so slowly that even Nines had almost missed it. They argued less, Gavin seemed a bit more comfortable with him being there. At first, it seemed like Detective Reed had only been adapting. Getting over his intolerance towards Bryan to make his life easier, as all humans sought convenience. Nines wouldn't have even minded if that had been the case.
But, then they started interacting more friendly like at home, playing video games, and watching movies. Sometimes, Nines would paint Gavin's nails for him while the detective bitched about life. And it was while they were playing video games one night that he thought Gavin might be considering him a friend.

And the fact that Hank was still asleep was really starting to piss him off. He had half a mind to go in the human's room and wake him himself, but that would just make him angry, and Connor didn't want to make Hank angry today. That doesn't push the thought from his mind that he could accidentally open Hank's door and accidentally drop Sumo on top of him and run, leaving the overgrown Saint Bernard to use the best alarm clock known to man; a dog's tongue. The whole reason Sumo slept in the living room was that Hank didn't want him to wake him up, so the thought of using this against Hank has occurred to Connor before. He's just never acted upon it.
He looks over at Sumo, who seems pretty annoyed that their human isn't awake yet, and Connor decides to finally act on this impulse.
In which Connor, Hank, and Sumo celebrate Christmas.
