Summary
Vio's eyes widened and he gasped, voice open to scream, when the sword cut into him, and then through him. His sword fell from numbing fingers, quickly losing their life colour. Knees thumped into cold stone floor as Vio panted from a mouth getting slick from blood, hands shaking and at his sides. He looked up onto icy Blue eyes, and fell over. Normally cold arms, yet now warmer than he is, catch him and cradle his head. Tears fell onto his face, and he lazily blinked them away from his eyes. Shadow's golden eyes looked at him with such sadness, and he was mouthing something. Shadow shouldn't be sad, he's already a very unfortunate creature. Vio lifted a weak, shaking arm to Shadow's face. But it never was able to touch. Violet eyes glassed over, and his arm fell limp.

I'm thinking about Red being too nice to say no.
The colors (+ Shadow) are at a royal event, and they all get sent a drink from "someone who just wanted to buy the heroes drinks as thanks." they all know it's risky to drink it, and the others politely decline, but Red would hate for the person who sent them to be told the heroes refused their gift... just one sip couldn't hurt, right? Just to be kind.
It's only a few absentminded sips later, when his legs give out under him and Green is shouting for a medic, that Red regrets not trusting his gut. -

He could hear Vaati’s voice as if it were still in his ear, whispering.
“You are not so different from us, after all.” That should scare him. That should twist his insides like a viper and make him want to throw up. Maybe something fundamental broke inside of him, he used to feel that way, he thinks. He used to feel the weight of the loss of a soul, but now?“No.” Vio replies simply. He shuts his eyes, pained by the fact he was disappointing them. “I do not regret it.” The room felt heavy. No one is sure what to say.

Summary
At twelve years old, the Hero of Legend nearly dies inside the palace of the Four Sword. Worlds away, the Hero of Lorule is saved by the ghost of a shadow. Opposites and equals in every way, the two boys are haunted by the Hero of Light’s legacy.
Life goes on, through love and war and the machinations of gods.
Shadow never expected to wake up again after shattering the Dark Mirror. Without the Hero he was created to follow, what’s the point of him? It’s a brave new world, and Shadow has no choice but to change with it, blissfully unaware of the Four Sword resting just below his feet.
How do you react when faced with a past you long thought buried?

“Great Zephos, they are totally shit-faced-” Wind hisses from over his shoulder, peeking out of the doorway just like Four is. He sounds like he’s having the best day of his life. Maybe he is.
“You’re a good man,” Warriors continues on, entirely oblivious to or uncaring of the audience he has amassed. “Y’ remind me of,” a thick, ugly sniffle, “of m’ own mum.”
“Oh, wow,” Four mutters.
Or, Warriors and Twilight sneak away from the rest of the Chain in the captain's era to enjoy a well-deserved break and celebrate the end of a long, long week. They, uh, might have celebrated a little too hard, because now it takes three separate heroes to drag them to bed and get them to focus for more than five seconds on a subject that isn't their deep, undying, brotherly love for one another.
Tears are shed, drunken heart-to-hearts are had, and lots of blackmail material is collected. At least Four is thoroughly entertained. Written for a sprint prompt in the LU Discord!
