Achromatopsia- a condition characterized by a total or partial absence of color vision. People with Achromatopsia cannot perceive any colors- and are trapped in a world of black, white, and shades of gray.
After being kicked out of Emilia's room due to a disagreement with Puck, Subaru decides to spend the night alone atop his throne. His paranoia runs rampant, preventing him from even thinking about getting a single wink of sleep, and Subaru feels as if he's going insane (he fails to notice he's been insane for a long, long time by now).
Then, Cecilus barges in and makes things worse, as he always does.

"I attest, nya." Ferris pipes up.
"Sure, would be better if Julius didn't show, but beggars can't be choosers." Subaru includes.
Reinhard's smile slowly grows wider with each of their input- A warm feeling spreading through his chest like an ice cube being dunked into a vat of warm water, slowly thawing, slowly melting. But headaches don't leave with simple feelings of happiness, so it intrudes and makes his smile waver for a moment. He hides it by taking a sip of water.
His headache rings in his head, his vision clouds for a moment before something shifts. Something feels terribly, terribly wrong.
Subaru only sees a glimpse, a glimpse of Reinhard's eyes widening just a fraction before he rises and opens his mouth to shout something-
