“So for the sake of a single soul, you are trying to be a better person.” Yato’s words aren’t a question. His eyes are like Dazai’s, half-closed, cold, and tired of this world.
“The fact that I’m failing isn’t why I’m up here. Succeed or not, nothing’s going to change.” Dazai tilts his head, his expression halfway between curiosity and melancholy. “You see it, too. If that person truly cares about you, do you think they’d want you to suffer?”

Hope flares in Dazai’s eyes, flickering as if he is afraid it will be snuffed out. His mouth spasms, the corners turning upwards in a half-smile before falling back down.
“I suppose I like canned crab.” He whispers, his mouth barely moving beneath the wide, open sky. “And sake. And sunsets.”Series
