Summary
Whenever Laxus thought back to his memories of his mother, he tried to think of her soft smile, the it would light up her entire face. He tried to remember the sound of her laugh, and how it would fill the rooms of their home. He found himself trying to remember the smell of her favorite perfume and how soft her hand would feel in his. He would try to think of the way she held him whenever he fell sick. There are times, however, when his mind would force him to darker memories. He found himself remembering the feel of the cold rain hitting him as he stood under a flimsy tent in the graveyard at Kardia Cathedral. The way his jaw ached from where he was biting the inside of his cheek to keep from making a sound. Laxus stood quietly, back straight, his hands fisted at his side. He could feel his fingernails digging into his palms, he was sure if he opened his hands, he would see blood. However, he didn't make a sound, he certainly didn't move, and his face remained impassive. His father had reminded him too many times that boys do not cry. No matter how upset he was, he wasn't allowed to let the tears fall.

Summary
Gasping for air, he gave the great timber a struggled heave, finally hoisting it enough to slip out from beneath it. The scrawny boy shuffled aside before the beam crashed to the ground, kicking up dust and debris. As he choked on the airborne sediment, he wiped his eyes and stared in terror. The home he had loved, where he had spent all his life with his family, was nothing but ash and broken planks, some still burning away.

Summary
It did not take long for Fairy Tail to get back to normal after the Fantasia Parade. Wizards continued to fulfill job requests as they came in, with the occasional brawl to liven up the guild hall. Natsu and Lucy just finished a task that sent them to Mount Hakobe, and were returning to Mirajane to report their success. However, as they entered the guild hall, Natsu was surprised by an unfamiliar scent.
As Natsu sniffed around, he found himself eyeing a green-haired stranger seated at a table near the bar. Taking in a few more swift whiffs, he confirmed that she was the new fragrance he had detected. Enticed by the strange combination of flowers, potions, and iron, he inched closer to her, until Lucy slapped her hand on his shoulder.
