Silence.
Tubbo finally looked up. His eyes were glassy but dry — like he’d cried too much to bother with it anymore. “You used to hold my hand when I had panic attacks. Do you remember that?”
Techno nodded.
“I was fourteen. You’d sit with me in the closet until I could breathe again. I thought... I thought that was love.”
“It was.”
“Then why does it feel like a cage?”

But my heart just keeps beating for you.
(Or: Tubbo is alive. Technoblade is not. Yet they're together, anyhow, somehow. Impossibly. And they stay, close– enough to grasp, to feel and to linger, for a moment. But never enough to lay themselves beneath, however. Bury so deep with each other. Tubbo will die, one day. What is Technoblade supposed to do with that? What is he supposed to do?)

Dongsoo watched him drown in red, turning his head to spit aside the chunk of flesh he'd ripped out. Gore and spittle splattered.
He exhaled, chest rising and falling from the extrusion, before he stepped over the man's twitching body and to Chae.
She was staring at the blood spreading out like a carpet under the man like she couldn't quite tell what she was looking at. Dongsoo knelt at her feet and untied the ropes. They pooled to the ground and she fell forward into him.
Her eyes were cloudy, heavy. Drug hazed.
His jaw clenched and then he was cupping the back of her head to keep her steady.
He shoved his pointer and middle finger past her teeth and didn't stop until she was retching and warm sick was rushing down his hand. Groggy and weak, she tried to turn away but Dongsoo didn't stop.
He didn't know how much she had in her stomach.
Small hands gripped his wrist and he paused, pulling away. When Chae could breathe she croaked, "Dad." There was bile running down her chin and blood stains on her face from his hands.
His voice caught roughly. "I'll take care of it."
Dongsoo pushed his fingers down her throat and she threw up again.

Bookmarker's Notes
Dongsoo couldn't exactly muster the emotion necessary for any of the things most women expected, but Hyo didn’t mind. Being with her was easy. Good. But when his daughter had been born he didn't see his wife as just a woman anymore.
She was like god. She'd given him fatherhood.
Did that mean he loved her? At first, he really thought he did. But Dongsoo quickly realized that this strange new emotion was for the small crying bundle in his arms. Chae, he'd decided from the moment she first opened her eyes, was a different kind of god.
The kind you'd kill and die for. The kind you loved.
Hyo however, still remained holy in his eyes. The kind of holy you respect and owe gratitude, nothing more nothing less.
But when Hyo had threatened to take everything, Dongsoo realized he'd have to kill a god.

As soon as Dongsoo laid his eyes on Kyun Yoon he knew he was gonna lose his kid for a second time. He wanted to tear her to pieces all over again; for a different reason this time.
A lot less selfish this time around.
And then he watched as Chae leaned into the crook of the girl's neck and smiled gently. Chae had learned to love, or something like it. Now she was going to learn to be unmade.
Like he had, once.

Bookmarker's Notes
I wish I had something meaningful to say about this but I'm just stunned.
This was a fascinating take on the skelebros relationship and I found such delight in the characterization, I felt it was really on point with how disturbing sans could be and papyrus' slow decent into despair, it was genuinely captivating and wrought with emotion all throughout. So twisted and dark and everything I love reading about in stories!
The details with which you described the scenes... I had to put my tablet down for a short breather and contemplate what I had just read before continuing. I felt what the characters felt. It was gripping in an unsettling way that I'm unsure how to really put into words, but will definitely stick with me for quite a while after finishing this wonderfully written work!
I'll for sure be back for a re-read sometime in the near future and I can't wait to go through this horrific and jaw dropping ride again!
He had curled up in bed beside his brother, burrowed under the pile of blankets against the basement's chill.
It was nice. Peaceful. He didn't have anything to worry about. Papyrus was right here. Safe. He could ignore the smell of dust permeating the basement. Sooner or later the kid would reset and none of this would matter.
He nuzzled his skull into the back of Papyrus’. His arm was looped around his spine, hand resting on a floating rib. His awareness had narrowed down to the steady rise and fall of Papyrus’ chest, the slow and rhythmic pulsing of his soul.
He slept sometimes. There were no dreams.
Honestly my favorite part of the story that I felt just as exhausted and empty as the characters did in this moment. Perfectly portrayed.

Summary
The message of “Tubbo_ was slain by Dream” would randomly flash on his communicator and Tommy could feel his heart ache because Tubbo was dead. He saw him die, his last life dripping scarlet on the blackstone floors of the Vault as Dream carried away his body, not even leaving him something to bury in remembrance. There was no way that it was real, just a cruel glitch in the server system, forever reminding him of his failure to protect his best friend.
-----
Some things are inevitable, and when help doesn’t arrive in time, Tommy is left to deal with that inevitably alone. Meanwhile, millions of blocks away in the Farlands, Tubbo struggles to come to terms with his existence as an experiment being bounced back and forth between living and limbo. And Dream? Well, Dream needs Tubbo so that he can continue to ignore just how many bridges he’s burned and how alone he really is.

Bookmarker's Notes
Dream didn’t care about Tubbo. Dream didn’t do that– couldn’t do that.
But Clay…
Losing Tubbo to the Void made Clay realize, no matter how long he wore the mask, no matter how willing he was to be the villain... he needed Tubbo. He needed someone, anyone, so that he could continue to ignore… ignore just how well and truly alone he really was.
You have no idea how much this hurts me on a personal level; Clays deep-rooted fear and all of Tubbos pain and emotions... everything in this fic hits just right.
