Summary
Yet another "Taylor Becomes the Butcher" story, the Butcher's Tax is the tale of one Taylor Hebert and her journey after becoming the fifteenth Butcher. Taylor quickly discovers that sometimes, violence is both fun and the answer. And she also becomes Lisa Wilbourn's (biggest headache) new best friend as Lisa tries to keep Taylor grounded.
...Tries being the operative word. That carries a lot of weight. But Lisa is confident she knows what she's doing, befriending Butcher XV and trying to keep her from going full Butcher. There's absolutely no way her foolproof plan will have consequences. Right?
(A Worm AU in which the Teeth remained in Brockton Bay, Lung set up shop in Boston so the Teeth vs. the Empire is the main gang scenery, and the journey of Taylor Hebert adapting to being Butcher XV while dealing with other stuff. Also, Smugbug.)

The Brockton Bay Brigade was fed bad information, and so attacked the wrong target, but still form New Wave despite their blunder. Marquis doesn't end up getting sent to the Birdcage and so remains entrenched, though as a single parent.
Taylor doesn't end up going to summer camp, which might have ended up better for her and Emma had the attack over the summer of 2009 not turned out so much worse.

Admiring Naruto was an easy thing, a lasting thing, but she was no longer in love with him. No more was she beset by day dreams of holding his hand or having him turn his smile her way or kissing the breath out of him. It was difficult to reach this stage but she could admit she was better off for it; at least now she could be around him without shying away. Naruto’s friendship was a lovely, stalwart thing, undying, and she liked being able to appreciate it properly.

“I’m the Hokage, not a princess,” she corrects, not quite comprehending what Sakura is alluding to. That’s okay, Sakura doesn’t mind explaining.
“Mhm, that’s interesting,” Sakura starts, and watches the way Tsunade’s eyes narrow in suspicion. “Shizune-san told me an interesting tale,” something like recognition flares to life in those brown irises that toe the line of being amber in the right lighting. “What is it that they called you? Tsuna-hime?” She cannot contain her laughter at the cross expression that breaks out across Tsunade’s features. It racks her body and consumes her until she is nothing but a shell of gasping breaths and teary eyes—can she be blamed? The look of annoyance Tsunade bears is enough to fuel Sakura’s nightmares for a lifetime.
Or, the five times Tsunade and Sakura flirted the boundary between friendship and romance, and the one time it no longer mattered.
