“I don’t want to talk to you,” Peter says. He’s been hiding for the better part of an hour, sitting in the cabin’s laundry room, wedged between the washer and the dryer. Something about the sounds coming off of them calm him, weirdly. The swish of water, the rumble of the motors, cotton rubbing cotton, the button on a pair of jeans dinging the side of the barrel.
“That’s bullshit,” Tony says. “You always want to talk to me.”
As true as that usually is, this time it rings discordant and tense. Peter clenches his jaw. “Not really,” he says. “You just sorta’ assume that.”
“Of course I do. I make for lovely conversation.”
“Eh.”

But he didn't, there was a lump in his throat, stopping any words from coming out.

It was 2 AM, and it was one of the family’s rare off days they didn’t go patrolling. Spoiler, Batwoman, and Batwing watching over Gotham. And so Tim was looking forward to cramming in some projects he made for Wayne Enterprise. Well so much for that.
Tim almost groaned aloud but knew better than to get the demon Brat all pissy.
“What do you need Dames.” He sighed setting his cup of coffee on his desk. He rolled his chair to where Damian had been standing. He had a lot of work. He just needed to get this over with-
Was…was Damian crying?
Damian sniffled as if almost answering his question.

“Drake,” Damian’s voice sounded small.
“Does it hurt?” Tim asked, making out Damian’s figure a little better with the tad bit of light coming through from the morning. That meant sun was rising.
“Worse,” Damian cracked a tad, “I can’t feel it anymore.”
Tim swallowed hard trying to remember what that could mean.A lot of it is bad and the possibilities of it being good aren’t well known enough to Tim to truly voice. Besides, doesn’t Damian have the knowledge of a medical student- he already knows what it could mean and that’s why he sounds so blatantly fearful. Nothing Tim can say will take that fear or risk away. Tim grabbed the small hand.
