Stiles really didn't mean for all this to happen, promise. Scout's honor. It's just that one thing spiraled into another and before he knew it he was off at college, with long-distance shared custody of a mystical baby tree and a whole other life he could never quite bring himself to explain.
(or: my completely unnecessary attempt at writing a brief 5+1 filled with "Stiles keeps a secret from the pack" subtropes kind of spiraled. I was not expecting an almost 16K monstrosity to come out of this. Sadly, I think I was the only one not expecting that.)

She hates it. Hates it with a passion she didn't know she could muster, hates more than she ever hated her abusive asswipe of an ex-husband, hates the danger and the lies and the scars and hates the creatures that slink in during the dead of night, leaving a trail of bodies and blood.
Because--because--
Because she's a nurse who has seen too many bodies shredded under vicious, feral, claws-and-teeth-and-desperation.
Because she watched these kids grow up, watched them flourish bright and happy and strong. Because she watched that light die.
Because even now, more than a year later, she still catches Stiles tracing the oni mark everywhere he goes; because the bags under his eyes are too deep and too constant and it's not fair, dammit.
Because she is, first and foremost, a mother.

The one where I was rewatching Teen Wolf for the billionth time, because what else would I do with my life, and I ended up feeling pretty bad for but also very impressed by Mama McCall & the various badass!moms. The one where I made the mistake of re-watching Wonder Woman pretty close to international woman's day and went on a rant about my favorite BAMF female characters and this happened. I'm not really sure what it is, other than my emotions spilling all over the place, but I hope you like it.
