The Machine is on the cusp of bringing Samaritan down. Root is also reaching what she feels is the end, just as Shaw starts to think she might want a beginning. Angsty Root is angsty and Shaw responds like, well, Shaw. Title is from the song "Echo" by Jason Walker, inspiration for where Root is coming from emotionally.
