Spoiler warning: Serious plot details below, to help my damaged memory.
Petunia did what she could to raise her sister's son decently: the smallest bedroom, adequate if uninspired food, hard work, and limited protection from her husband and son's bullying. And when, despite her hopes, Harry gets his Hogwarts letter, she sets out equally grimly to make sure he gets everything needed to enter his new life.
Harry, not broken in childhood, takes goblin advice on dealing with his vaults and properties, hires a skilled lawyer versus Dumbledore for his extensive thefts from Harry's inherited property. Harry goes on to help Nigel develop confidence and acts as patron for Luna Lovegood after her sexual abuse by Gilderoy Lockhart and subsequent cruelty from other girls in her House.
This Harry is not a warm young man, being deeply reserved and disinclined to trust easily, but he believes that the icy rage which drives him should only be released against those who prey on the helpless. Such ruthless deeds for good causes prove him the first Grey Lord in over a century.
He befriends members of all four Houses (as well as a stray black dog, and the quirky ex(?)-Death Eater Regulus Black), makes political alliances with the unsavory as needed, and Will. Not. Stop.
