Summary
In hospitals, 35% of fatalities occur. Of fact, it is absurd that hospitals are killing you; on the contrary, just the opposite is the case. Hospitals are where people go when they need help, and since practically everyone who enters is hurt or unwell, it is inevitable that some people will pass away. Although you were fully aware of the statistic and worked as an emergency nurse in the ER of your local hospital, you didn't let it affect you. Few people died under your care, but none compared to that tragic night in high school when someone you believed to be a friend massacred the entire student body. You were lucky enough to have been sick the night of the event, home with food poisoning, but the stories were enough to give you nightmares for years to come. With the past behind you, you look forward to work. Perhaps you just want to save those you couldn't before. None of that matters of course, it's not like you would run into him again. Even with these convictions, when a patient is rushed in an ambulance and claims to be stalked by masked men and some eldritch horror, you can't help but wish you stayed home.

I don't use Y/N, and reader is not named. The only specs for your insert are that you are afab and disabled. If you aren't disabled, you will be while reading this. Reader's disability is based heavily on my own experiences, so please do not try to educate me on what being disabled is "actually like" under the assumption I am guessing, as everyone's experience will be drastically different. It is my intention, however, that this story will resonate with readers of both the able bodied and handicapped groups.
