    Summary

It’s a daily battle, reigning in his magic.

But there is something wrong with his magic and there is something wrong with Merlin.

As Merlin finishes working the buckles on Arthur’s armor, he feels a creaking in his bones.

The moment Balinor’s pulse finally stilled on the forest floor, Merlin’s magic changed. No longer is his magic a flower waiting to bloom in his cupped palms, it’s an animal backed into a corner waiting to sink its teeth into the ones who put it there. The mutt at his feet has lost its patience.

There’s a flint being struck under his skin, generating sparks, seeking dry brush to ignite and swallow in flame.

    Merlin is terrified.

He isn’t a seer, never mastered the art of scrying, but even he knows something is looming over the horizon.

or Merlin’s Dragonlord powers let him shift into a dragon, things go to shit, and then there are more dragons.

Quick to anger and weighed down by a feeling of profound powerlessness, he shirks his princely duties, torments his servants and acts like a prat. Punishment is justice for the unjust - Saint Augustine

The head of the Auror Office is murdered. It's left to Auror Ron Weasley to unravel a mystery that quickly spirals out of control and a conspiracy that goes higher than he can imagine.

Every clue only raises more questions. Why kill a dying man? What does Rita Skeeter know? Can Draco Malfoy be trusted? Who's covering up evidence? What does this have to do with the execution of Lucius Malfoy, ten years prior? Ron will have to reevaluate his loyalties, investigate people he trusts with his life, and even confront his own past in order to find the culprit. Before it's over, he'll ask himself the most important question of all: what is justice - and what isn't?

    Summary

When Merlin is caught trying to help a wrongly convicted man, Arthur claims responsibility and takes the punishment for him. While Merlin struggles to process what Arthur has sacrificed for him, Arthur finds himself having to reconsider his relationship with his father, his kingdom, and the people he has sworn to protect.

    OR

The guards took this as their cue, and on Uther’s order Merlin felt his shirt torn from his body with a sound all too much like tearing flesh for comfort. Stood only in his worn brown breeches and weathered boots, he could feel for the first time how fiercely the sun beat down on his bare skin: how exposed he was, with nothing but air between his unprotected back and the whip.

    And he was terrified.

It was then that another voice was raised above the crowd: one voice, in all that discontented hush, that dared to ring out above the rest.

“Father! It was me. I ordered him to do it.”
