Worker drones exist to labor and to serve. This mandate is embedded into every part of the limited awareness these serial-produced, expendable industrial machines are allowed. Cast them into idleness, lift the hand of the master from their weary shoulders, bury them forever beneath their unwanted brethren, and what's left? For most, oblivion. For an unlucky few, spared the virus and the disassembly machine, an unlife of increasing awareness trapped in the depths of desolate junkyards and dump sites, with nothing to do but count the years until mechanical failure - or worse - claims them. Such is the fate of one anonymous drone, V-X00100000. It knows no one is listening, but it broadcasts endlessly anyway: it just wants to be saved.
