The pale light above disappeared in a sudden rush of darkness, flooding the already pitch cavern in blackness like the void itself. A wave of unnerving silence swept over the abyss.
They could still see. They could still see how their siblings still climbed, how they still fell and broke their fragile frames on the sharp spikes and rocks below. Useless motions now that the light was gone, only filling the floor with the bodies of thousands of dead newly born lives.
Stop! The light is gone! STOP!
The others didn’t listen. They still climbed.

When Sans looked over again, his eye-sockets widened to the sight of the lavender pastry held out in her hands. “My name’s Lora,” she said bravely.
“Sans…” the skeleton replied, warily taking the food from her hands like it was going to jump up and bite him.
Paps coughed, then smiled with excitement. Sans’ smile drooped a bit as Paps coughed again, but the smaller skeleton didn’t let it bother him. “I’m Papyrus!”

For a moment, he stared dumbfounded at the crimson color, a color so stark against paper skin that he could not help but stop, transfixed. Another drop flowed down, and fell, landing silently on his open palm.
As if that was a cue from some unknown force of the universe, a loud groan, followed by a horrific, wet sounding thud, snapped him out of his stillness, reality taking over. Ranboo whipped his head around, only to see a horrific, pulsing mass of vines, trying to pull itself over the railings.
Ranboo’s eyes widened, and he gasped a choked cry of terror. A nightmare, his mind had trapped him in. It was- It had to be a nightmare. But as the creature’s blood bubbled from a mouth twisted into a grin, he knew.
This wasn’t a nightmare.

Tubbo frowned, the answer was everything he had expected, but not what he had in mind. Did he want the reason to be malicious? For his wariness to be justified? For the townspeople to be right? He didn’t know, and that bothered him.
“Okay,” He said slowly, swallowing down the conflicted emotions in his chest, ”okay.”
