'Maybe because he was still half-asleep, or maybe because he had never really seen Fei Du like this, but Tao Ran couldn't help feeling that nothing about this scene was real.
Here he was, in Luo Wenzhou's guest bedroom, sitting up on the bed in the middle of the night, with a table lamp which stamped a bright beam of light over his bedspread and fell over Fei Du, who was pulling a strand of hair behind his ear, while he talked to Xiao Haiyang on Tao Ran's phone in a way that reminded Tao Ran viscerally of someone, but he couldn't quite recall who it was at this moment.'
In which Tao Ran muses on everything that has happened since Fei Du stumbled into his and Luo Wenzhou's life.

Even if a happy ending was attained, sometimes the wounds inflicted along the way might not easily heal.
To have his most cherished person by his side, now finally safe and sound, Luo Wenzhou could not ask for anything else. He was happy, he should be content.
However, when the two of them were separated for a slightly prolonged period of time, what seemed to be a mere temporary parting dragged out a certain insecurity that he had long buried in the depth of his heart, haunting him every time he tried to close his eyes.

Luo Wenzhou looks up to meet Fei Du’s eyes. He rounds the desk and pulls Fei Du into his arms, planting a kiss on his forehead.
“Oh, darling,” he mumbles into Fei Du’s hair. “What would I do without you?”
Be happier, probably, and Fei Du can’t help the thought popping into his mind because he hasn’t dealt with this yet and needs to take care of this and everything he thinks is beginning to sound like his fathers voice.
“Shixiong is too good for me,” is what he says instead, in the tone of voice that lets Luo Wenzhou know Fei Du is just teasing, hopefully covering up the fact that he means it.

There were a lot of things that irked me in the series after the death of RJ. The lack of character growth in the 2-year time hop, the Pike-Lisbon arc, Haibach's role, certain plot holes and ultimately, how little we got to see of Jane and Lisbon's relationship.
This fic is the ramblings of a dreamer, how I wish things could've been in a show I adored so much, with the two characters and their relationship that had captivated me and left me wishing for more. This is it. This is the more.
