Zoey drags her by the hand to the couch. It’s not as big as the one they used to own some years ago, but it’s just as comfy. She much prefers it this way. A small couch is the perfect excuse for them to cuddle — not that Rumi needs one to snuggle against her wives.
Years ago, Rumi would be crawling up at the walls over a morning like this. No messages about their names on trending topics, or desperate calls from Bobby. No demons to fight and no songs to write.

“Celine,” Mira says from beside her, her voice quiet, raspy. “Celine. What happened to Rumi?”
The silence grows heavier. Colder, almost. Zoey can feel the air all around them be sucked away, and she suddenly feels like she’s been hit in the gut, like all the oxygen has been pulled right out of her lungs. Celine says nothing for a long moment, her eyes wide and sharp, distant and unfocused. Gone and not gone.
“I don’t know,” Celine says, her words almost sounding like they have a slight echo to them. “She must have done something.”
Zoey looks down at her blood-stained hands, curling her fingers into her palms so hard that she nearly cuts them open. “She did that to herself?” She asks, voice breaking mid-way through her sentence. “No. No, Rumi, she’d-she’d never do that. She wouldn’t.”
“Celine,” Mira whispers, taking a step closer. “What did you do to Rumi?”
