She licked her lips, stared at her with that intensity, the hawk-gaze that brought her goosebumps in delightful trepidation, a predator about to pounce and one could never know whether it was for play or for the kill. This was a woman who’d frozen the ocean over, a woman who’d tamed the elementals of myth with the ease Maren would tame a reindeer, a woman who was all the bedtime stories Maren’s grandparents told her in the flesh.

    Honeymaren chuckles, it’s just so cute. “Whatever suits you. Silk and drowning.” A foot kicks her in the stomach. A thin layer of frost—the exact size and shape of Elsa’s foot—appears on it. “Hey!” With that, Maren shimmies off her pants and pulls off her gákti and its accompanying dark green shirt with haste, leaving her in her undergarments. She leaps onto the bed, chasing after Elsa’s squeals. They wrestle through the blankets as Honeymaren fights to tickle her.

    Do you enjoy a painfully slow burn? Because writing these two stoics together damn near killed me. I love them but I hate them.
