When Steve and Sam manage to bring Bucky home, the man isn't himself. Sam happens to find baseball to be a secret key that's able to humanize the robotic soldier little by little.
Sam: Hey man, got tickets to a baseball game this weekend and I'm taking Bucky.
Steve: You sure? Don't feel obligated to take him because of me.
Sam: I'm pretty sure this is the first time I saw any light in his eyes. Figured this might help get him a little back to normal. I'm totally fine with taking him - as long as he doesn't murder everyone.
Sam waits point two seconds before sending a follow-up text.
Sam: I'm kidding by the way. About the murder.

Sam dropped into one of the chairs. 'Not really.' He spun the sketchbook around. Bucky had filled the page with half-finished figure drawings, crossing through them when they apparently failed to meet some internal standard. 'What's this?'
'Just practice.' Bucky grabbed the sketchbook and turned the page over. 'It's been a while…' Eighty years, actually, but who was counting?
'Would it help if you had a model?'
'Couldn't hurt.' Bucky twirled the pencil through his fingers. Inviting Sam into his room just now had been an impulse. After yet another failed attempt to sketch his own feet, he tossed the sketchbook to the table in fit of pique, and rotated his head to try and loosen the knots in his neck. He saw Sam standing in the dim light of the parking lot light that limned the lines of his body with silver while the water vapor rose off the pool behind him. Sam couldn't have struck a better pose if he tried. Still, he hadn't intended for an impromptu figure drawing session. That being said, he would sell his soul to Lucifer himself just to spend more time with Sam Wilson. 'You offering?'

Sam Wilson walked through the streets of London, watching the jarring mix of new and old; buildings hundreds of years old and newly created; wide gridded streets and narrow, winding alleyways.
Sam had been to many cities in his search for Bucky Barnes.
Well.
He had been to many cities as he visited Bucky Barnes, really.
Sam found him the first time around.
Lounging in a hole in the wall deep in the heart of Prague.
Low lighting; his face only lit really by a candle on the small booth he sat at.
Intense eyes on Sam.
Sipping on something Bucky would later say was a Czech Mule; a fascinating cocktail that tasted like Christmas.
Bucky hadn't been ready for Steve to know where he was then.
Sam doubted he was now.
And.
Sam was a little selfish. He liked his days with Bucky. He liked talking with him. He like - he liked getting to know the man. And there was part of Sam that just wanted to keep it that way.
A little bubble.
