“That scam carnival of his ran its course,” the Baron said. He began to twirl his cane over his hand, the slight shift in the air from the motion making the very bottom of Evangeline’s dress flutter gently. “He and his little friends had a lot of running to do as well. Carnies really do prefer to be paid for their hard work. But who would Kremy be if he were to look inward, hm?”
“Get to the point,” Evangeline hissed. She clenched her jaw tightly to keep herself from saying worse.
“Like mother like son. You’re both far too easy to rile up.” The Baron chuckled as he tucked his cane under his arm.
